Why no ICS anytime soon

I think Verizon does hate us. By "us" I mean those that inhabit the forums and put information out there that they don't want public knowledge. People that jack up their tech support numbers by calling in and asking when whatever update is coming. They do hate that we make them work for what we pay them for.

This to a very large extent is probably true. As I said in another tread, the problem is transparency or lack there of. They don't want to fool with transparently for us. They want to leave us in the dark like the rest of their customers that don't care or know to care. That way if things fall behind they have no accountability. They also take their time and make sure tech support is ready for all the unfortunate phones that get bricked from in for random reasons.

That and they make sure all their bloat that I don't think even makes them money works. I man really why is half of it on there?

As far as I'm concerned ICS is a major update if nothing else for the multi-core CPU support. Most rational people wouldn't care. But I do. I like getting the most out of what I paid for.

I couldn't agree more, that was always the sole selling point for me w/ ICS. All the other additions & changes are just neat little trinkets to play with. Multi core support and hardware acceleration are all I need to be happy.

The claim has always been tied to lower priced phones (i.e. subsidized vs full retail) for consumers True or false, idk?

Man, I think you're projecting your fascination with ICS onto everyone else. Of the general population of smartphone owners, how many do you think know or even care about ICS? In fact, I would bet that most people don't know much beyond the word "droid" - in terms of operating systems. Aside from techie people/Android fans, I'm pretty sure no one went out and bought the Galaxy Nexus because it was the first phone to use ICS.

Perhaps we haven't seen the ICS update for the Rezound because it's probably very low on the priority list of things-to-do at Verizon, HTC, etc. There are probably thousands of things they need to do before pushing out an update they will bring them no profit.

This is a hobby/passion for you. It's a business for them.

fixed it for you lol

First vzw isn't going to push the nexus. There is no money on it its buggy. I'm having issues with my nexus and tech support is pushing me to exchange for the Max but I keep refusing. If you have been around awhile u know the saying. If you don't have droid branded phone you ain't got squat.

I'm still going to argue a bit for Verizon here. I would say individuals in the call center and stores hate people like us, because we know more than them. I know I talk about my job a bit, but I deal with Internet nerds, in there houses with their internet problems. Most techs hate you also, sorry. We are pains in the but. And if you look at some of the non problems that get blown out of proportion here and on other forums, if you think about it you may see that other side. Corporate Verizon though, would only hate you because you call in 1000% more than the average person, but you buy a new phone every year, so it's a wash to them.

I think the actual problem is they were a company that provided a specific thing to consumers. Cell Phones. Old dumb phones needed very little support. But with smart phones, and especially Android phones, they have put themselves in a position where they are also software providers to some extent, and they have not adapted well. If in fact they just left well enough alone, this would be less of a problem. Or they should have just sacked HTC with the updates, kind of like they do with Apple, and called it a day. I think a simple "HTC, your in charge of updates to your phone, and you pay for all the bricked ones, don't f-it up" would more than likely speed things up a bit.

It would really be interesting to see what would happen if they did roll out something on time though. People still will hate though.

Believe it or not that was an Apple decision not a Verizon one. Apple calls the shots on every carrier they're on. The carrier has little to no input in how they do business. I think the only Android manufacturer that carries anywhere near as much sway with VZW is moto. Moto pulled big red out of the fire and I think that they both recognize that.

Verizon is calling the shots with the next Iphone.

Mr. Smith,
I may exchange my nexus for a rezound because of the signal issue. I do love ICS as it is more pleasing and as a stock os with no skin is pretty polished.
I had a Dinc.

Think I would be happy with a rezound and is the extended battery a requirement?
I get great battery life on the nexus, but again service is an issue.

What's going on w/ your GNex that hasn't been addressed by the updates, yet?

Verizon really shouldn't make that fact so blatantly apparent to all of the non-Motos in the lineup.

I post this b/c it's an interesting turn of events. Just read a report that the Razr soak was switched from a , usual fare, update to an ICS soak.

On the stock ROM battery life is okay, but on an ICS ROM it's superb. I use my phone to stream audio to my car via bluetooth, and then while I'm at work play music on my headphones and Gtalk/text all day.

The biggest battery killer is either leaving the screen on when you don't need it, or sleeping through three alarms on the phone while they just keep going off..... :-[

OK, Guess I should of clarified a few things better. First off I could care less if ICS comes out for the rezound or not. In reality my phone works great the way it is now (with exceptions of a few bugs). To me I don’t see much of a difference between sense 4.0 / ICS and what it has now. And yeas, when the nexus first came out, to up about mid dec they where pushing the nexus and the fact it had ICS as one of their main selling points. Even the splash screen on the Verizon cell site made a big statement about it being first phone with ICS. Granted the nexus is not being pushed that much today because newer phones are out now, but that was one of the main selling points when it first came out.

Just like any company If lets say VZW is trying to push phone "A", they are not going to give phone "B" the same features as phone "A", especially if one of the features they give phone "B" is something they are using as a selling point for phone "A". Same thing not just for updates, but for when phones are put out too. lets say you bought 10k of one type of phone, then a month later buy 2k of a different phone, which one to you thing you would try to push more before you drop the price.

Now if you think about the fact that ICS was promised early Q1, and look where we are now, and look a the fact a few other phones promised ICS late 2012 which now have it, you need to take into consideration that rezound ICS update has been held up by either VZW and/or HTC. wither its due because of the update (ICS) not working right and/or holding it out for a bit longer to not compete with certain phone(s) (i.e. nexus, one series)

I also wouldn’t be surprised if VZW is just holding the update off for a bit, then in a month or 2 put the update out and use the new update (ICS) as a new selling point for the rezound so they can sell off their remaining stock

Just got the new ICS update today, hopefully it will fix my wifi connection issues when my phones screen is off
