Why so much dislike for the s5?

I completely feel you
It doesn't seem like many websites like the S5 and bash on Samsung
I've been in many different websites looking for the best phone, and I've seen the M8, the iPhone 5s, and the LG G3 top plenty of lists, but the S5 doesn't seem to make much of an appearance
It's such a great phone though, so I wish it would

People tend to hate things that become mainstream. When Samsung debuted the first Galaxy S series in 2010, people were jumping on the anti-iPhone bandwagon because it was different. Now, Samsung is widely known and some people just want something to be different. I don't experience any lag with my S5 like others and people's experiences with their phones vary with use.

I have no idea. I used to have an S3 and it was by far the best phone I had ever owned up until that point. Now I have an S5 and it's basically like the S3 except vastly superior in every meaningful way. I've got nothing but praise for this beast.

Basically most people will complain about something more than they will praise something. If you dislike it (for whatever reason) your more willing to point out the faults you have, but less likely to go out of your way to state a positive opinion. People feel that if enough complain, things they are complaining about will get noticed and possibly be changed, While praises aren't used to make changes or voice opinions for change.... hence people don't have the need to praise a product as much as those wishing to complain

I just went to the vz store with our neighbor to get her new s5. Awesome phone. She loves the size of it for reading.
My only problem with it is it won't fit in my shirt pocket.
Now I'll be spending many hours at her place, teaching her how to use a smart phone. She makes great coffee.

I don't understand it either. Sure we all have our preferences but a least show some objectivity. I don't want a LG, HTC or Sony but I will admit that they are all capable phones. They are not terrible.

LG's are junk. And thays not bashing, thats just the truth.

The S5 is bad a$$.

The LG G2 and Nexus 5 are good phones. LG made some really mediocre phones in 2011 and 2012 but they got it right last year.

Samsung makes good parts - always has. They do a good job with hard drives and processors and the like. Samsung does listen - customers complained about the rear of the S4 and they change that with the Note 3 and S5. They need to continue toning down Touchwiz. Touchwiz should really only change the icons, have its own wallpaper, and then add quick system toggles. Samsung needs to place all of its apps on the Play Store or the Samsung Store and update them independently.

I would love to see a really innovative phone design and more toned down software from Samsung. Look at the HTC One M8 or E8, or the LG G3, or the Moto X. Plastic can be beautiful - the HTC One E8 is a really nice looking phone. That is all they are missing.

I don't hate Samsung, far from it. They make some really good products, including phone hardware. Unfortunately, Samsung Android phones suffer from feature bloat. Since the S3, they've tried to cram everything but the kitchen sink into their phones, and to me that smacks of a lack of vision. I don't want a fingerprint scanner or a "health monitor." I don't need 20 "S" apps that duplicate functions already included in Android. I don't need gimmicks like eyeball scanning to scroll websites. Cut the bloat and the fat, and give me some of that internal storage space back! It doesn't help that I'm not a fan of TouchWiz.

That said, I'm not going to jump on someone for liking their Galaxy phone. If it works for you, that's awesome. They're just not for me.

People love to hate the overdog, and Samsung's the 800 lb gorilla of Android phones. And they'll come up with all kinds of rationalizations for their dislike, and will stick with those even if you can show them to be factually inaccurate. Ignore what other people think, and get the phone that fits your needs best.

I've noticed the same thing, even reviewers seem to be biased and almost hesitant or apologetic when they actually finish the review and admit the phone is a great phone. They always have to give a rebuttal and give some random praise to HTC, LG or Apple. It's confusing because they say it's just a step up from the s4 but next month that same reviewer will rave over the just a step up iPhone 6 over the iPhone 5s. I like other phones but the s5 just seemed perfect and the highly criticized styling looks great to me. It's unique and I buy cases that make sure it still shows the unique look of the s5. Finally this hate for plastic phones is lame, a premium phone doesn't have to be, heavy, scratch prone, cold slippery metal! That argument you hear a lot and it's really just preference not a must. I like the back finish and the shiny rim of the s5, so those reviewers and bloggers just clearly show their bias over and over. You can like another product better without constantly trying to tear down the product your reviewing just to keep reassuring yourself.
