Why so secret???

I don't know if you're talking to me or not but I'm definitely interested in this phone and have said so. Are you contesting that the first Bionic was a failed phone? As for the 2nd or 3rd Bionic, I don't think anyone knows yet.

Thanks, Robrecht

No Sir I was not referring to you. Everyone who has followed this Forum for a long while knows who we are referring too. I do not usually say anything because I like hearing everyone's opinion. Its the short one liners that irritate me that I quoted in my previous post, by people that have already said their is no way they will be getting this phone.

We all know that the first Bionic was a failed phone, though not 100% sure why. Moto referred to protocol stacks as being the issue (whatever that means). All I know is that no one can claim that a phone that hasn't been released yet, that's specs are unknown, that's performance is unknown is going to be a flop. Or that it is already outdated when it Will Be the very first Dual Core LTE phone on VZW, if it's the first of it's kind on the nations "best" network, how can it be outdated????

To answer the question of the thread, Apple is in the process of redesigning their next gen iphone and it behooves Motorola not to tip their hand to the competition. Samsung has been battling Apple in the courts trying to find out what the new iphone and ipad designs are looking like but to no avail. It's basically a game of high stakes poker between the phone manufacturers right now.

As the customer, it's a problem because we can't plan our purchases. But at the same time, we'll probably end up with better products than we would have otherwise.

I sure hope you are right but sometimes companies get too full of themselves and miss the mark by not listening to the customer. The only thing we have seen from Motorola on the dual core front is the Atrix, X2 and the Xoom. I think the jury is still out on these devices.
I know one thing.
I would be pissed if I had forked over the money for a Xoom with the promise of 4G and still not having it or any indication of when I will get it. Customers are going to be looking for refunds plus more for being led down that dead end street!

That is why I am waiting on the Xoom to release a 4G LTE version.

I'm not yet up to speed on all the rumors and what's actually known vs pure speculation ... but I wonder if some of you guys are maybe engaging in some wishful thinking here. Bare metal hypervisor, ray guns, and flux capacitors. I don't thnk Moto is sitting on some killer device; I think they're trying to save their reputation as much as possible. Secrecy may be more about their not knowing yet if they're going to be able to pull it off this time. Sorry if I'm being too negative here, but what details do you really know about the actual equipment being used? Has anyone figured out what precisely the problems were on the first Bionic? Do we know if it's been fixed? Maybe the 2nd "Bionic" had the same problems or worse? All this talk about a third "Bionic" is not a good sign; it's a bad sign IMHO.

Check out the specs on Sprint's Photon and if the sources are correct you are looking at the Bionic (less the form factor)

There has been zero talk of what the actual problem was with the CES Bionic beyond what Jha said about a protocol stack. Whatever that is.

They will get the product to market but will it do well. My contention is if the Atrix didn't do so well what makes them think the Photon and Bionic will do any better.

Less the processor and form factor they are identical unless the Bionics specs don't pan out

4.3-Inch Capacitive qHD Display (540?960)
Android 2.3 w/Motoblur
Nvidia Tegra 2 1 GHZ Dual-Core Processor vs TI OMAP
8MP Rear Camera and VGA Front Camera

I'm not going to single out any particular detail but I can't wait for the servings of crow that some people should be having when the bionic is released

nobody's going to eat crow because nobody has anything to go on except whats been leaked/mentioned.

So please go into detail. This is only pre release.

If it's all speculation run wild, how do we even know that the Photon is different than the Bionic then? I don't think it's run wild per se. There are some leaks and strong indications of what the Bionic will be hardware-wise, particularly if you listen to those that have a good track record for these things. While they might be slightly off, I think they'll turn out to be very close to what we'll see at release, if they're off at all.

I like you CK but it isn't my place to speculate because I wouldn't be. I like the healthy debates that go on here and enjoy your strong arguments; even though some will pan out to be moot points. I think the bionic will please a lot of people, but for those already hating it, they will still find something wrong with it.

WOW - they must have found a way to deliver 1.2 Gigawatts of power to the flux capacitor - IN A PHONE!!!!

Ha! and end all this entertaining discussions? I watch these threads for amusement not information.

No but you said:

Please elaborate. You said the Photon is different. I'm curious what you are talking about. anybody seen an aircraft carrier around here?
