Wow, evryone is talking about how the Evo isn't as good and we still have a 2.2 update around the corner. I think I'll wait to make my final call once the next Android update releases.
Actually I hate AT&T so I'll never get an iphone and probably wouldn't get one if it were on Sprints network.

Halforc is dead on. I'm carrying a moto droid right now and an evo, and using my droid is just painful. The 3.7 inch screen (still bigger than iphone) feels like massive drop off.
Are you serious?? Are some of you guys actually worried about the Evo in comparison to the iPhone 4? The iPhone 4 is such a huge disappointment. After all the hype, the press of the missing iPhone, leaked photos, etc, the iPhone couldn't have asked for a better debut. Instead we get a phone with mediocore specs, especially coming from Apple. Apple is suppose to out due everyone right? Even when Jobs was show casing it, it started to act up and could not load NY Times. I remember someone on here called it out and said "the new iphone will probably be on par with the phones that are out right now." On par maybe, but they sure aren't blowing anything away with their new iPhone.
Oh and the front facing camera on the iPhone 4 is only vga quality. Are we traveling back in time or what? I remember people complaining about the Evo's front facing camera only being 1.3mp and laggy. Well, good luck with vga quality and to top it off you can only do video chat via wi-fi.
I just feel it's kind of sad that this is what Apple will be releasing. I guess they're waiting for next year so they can slap on an "S" to the 4 and say that it is faster and has more metal to get better reception. I guess we will see but I do not think the iPhone 4 is worth any hype.

I know this is an old thread, but it sure does not beat iPhone on memory. 8 gigs is the smallest of the Apple products, and its not even internal on the EVO. (If apple is even doing 8 gigs anymore.
If they are going to include 8 gigs, I'd rather it be internal, and let me buy the SD card of my choosing.
Being forced to manage apps due to the lack of memory really is a deal breaker, especially with the disk memory leak in the contacts app. Sure more apps will become compatible with off loading to SD cards, but frequently the SD card can become inaccessible when plugged into the PC. I'd like to be able to let the PC access it anytime its plugged in. vs. have the pop up appear every time I plug in and then I must choose phone vs pc.... I can't set it to a default because sometimes I need to access via the PC, and sometimes I need to make sure the phone does not break. STUPID STUPID STUPID. Plus I plug in to PC's a lot so yes it does get annoying.
I feel the exact opposite. I need more than 8gb so I opted for a 32 gb card which is serving me perfectly.

I'm still using the 8 gig card ny evo came with and just recently have been thinking about a larger card. I have a large music collection. Over 200 large pics plus apps and backups and have plenty of space left. Sometimes I think these larger cards, or in apples case tons of memory is over-the-top, just a way to get more money from the consumer for something they will never use.

Why does everyone have to be a fanboy when they say that iPhone is better than Android? I hate Apple but when my buddy that sits across from me can play games all day on his iPhone and I play 30 mins of Angry Birds or Dungeon Defenders on my Evo his battery is still in the 90s and mine is almost dead... That kinda irritates me. Or when new apps are released and we get it on Android and we have the watered down no feature version... That is another strike. As we can see Android is superior and its nice to be able to root it and make it better the 2 MAJOR factors will still be there that makes us inferior to the iPhone... The battery sucks... and we get the **** apps while the iPhone has all the features...
Apple has been out how many years? So of course developers have leaned towards for the iphone in applications. Android just got hot so it will take time before it will get the love of the iphone.

hmm. I was given an iphone for work. After having numerous calls drop or not ring at all, i switched to the EVO, a phone i had admired from afar. After a couple of weeks, i easily noticed that the battery for the iphone is just as comparable to the EVO. I played angry birds, and did some web surfing on the iphone and my battery would die just as fast. If i wasnt charging my iphone up all day, i couldnt count on being able to use it after work for very long. So i would say your premise isnt exactly correct.
It sure does beat Apple on memory. With Android you buy a large SD card and use it for practically all future smart phones (and a variety of other electronics) for at least the next several years. With Apple, you have always had to pay an additional $100 per generation to get the one with the larget memory (iPad is an additional $200 to get the largest memory). So the typical fanboy that went from the original iPhone to the 3G to the 3GS to the iPhone 4 shelled out an extra $400 extra (all in 3 years mind you) due to the lack of being able to use your own SD card.
I think I paid $75 for my 32GB micro SD card and will take it with me to my next phone and my next phone and..... No thanks Apple.
