why still getting gmail delivered with Wi-Fi off

Wondering why gmail is still being delivered with the WiFi turned off.

Are you sure it's off? Some people report wifi still transmitting in airplane mode.

that would be a "no"......no signal,no mail Gps does work with no signal though..
