In the current smartphone boom, Android has its major share in smartphone users. iPhone was the king, but Android has surely dethroned it. Pricing is definitely one of the major factor. Following are few more factors to switch to an Android device from iPhone. What are your take on this.

1. Android has robust notification system. Unlike the iPhone, Android has a single notification system that developers can tap into when developing applications.
2. The web browser, Android browser is very fast unlike safari on iPhone. My experience. Android browser also supports flash which is a bonus for game lovers.
3. Android is a Open source system. Much to the delight of developers.They more control over how they can customize the Android devices.
4. Recently Samsung Galaxy S3 is released by all 5 carriers in US which is awesome. iPhone is locked with At&T. No Multiple carriers for iPhone.
5. Android device is packed with loads of Google applications.If you are a Gmail user then it allows you to easily manage your contacts on either your phone or the desktop

Have you switched to android from iPhone? would you mind giving the reasons for that?

Android is for those of us who want to actually use our computers, whether they're desktops or phones. i-Things are for the rest of the people.

@rebecca:

"Since Apple iOS 5, you can wirelessly sync your iPhone, something that Android is still not possible." Not true. I wifi sync all the time (MyPhoneExplorer), and have been doing it since before iOS 5.

"in the legal field is jailbreak in a twilight zone" Not in the US.

The article seems to prove that a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing.

How can you say Safar is slow? What are you using, a 3GS? iPhone is known to have the BEST web browser and smoothest zoom functions in the browser. I'v had the Galaxy2, Atrix 2, HTC One X, and the HTC Thunderbolt and NON of their browsers were beat Safari. Google it and look at web browser comparisons if you don't believe me. Also, the iPhone does have centralized notification.

I recently have made the jump from iPhone to android and let me say I wish I did it sooner. The only thing in my opinion that makes the iPhone good is its apps. The phone itself was horrible, after turning up the volume on a call i could barely hear people I was talking to. I think it was too much work just to get to a setting (like Bluetooth) you had to go into a menu, then in another menu, then another. I mean you can't even customize the phone the way YOU would like it. I bought my skyrocket two weeks ago and I’m just blown away by the android OS. It’s easy to move through, my main tools that I use like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are right at the drop down screen. I HAVE THE THUNDERCATS OPENING RUNNING IN THE BACKGROUND, WHAT IS BETTER THAN THAT!!! My skyrocket is running gingerbread, so I can only imagine how ice cream sandwich is or even jellybean. Now with everything good there is some things I don’t like about android one is the battery life. Everyone that owns one talks about the battery life on these things. But to be honest with all the good that comes with the android OS I have no problem looking over the bad. Android has made a good impression on me.

Last I knew the iPhone was on 3 of the 4 national carriers.

I've never had or used an iPhone, but the browser speed is all relative to your data speed just like on a computer. Launching the browser is relative to the os and hardware. Higher end android phones should launch and run faster.

If you Google it, you'll find that Chrome and Opera are faster than Safari. Opera has always been faster than Safari, at the same level. Safari is also just about the most useless browser in existence. (I'm guessing - there are probably hundreds of totally lame browsers I've never heard of, and Safari may be better than one of them.)
