Why Textra vs stock messaging app?

Indeed it is but unless you get the APK for 4.4 you won't be able to send sms texts and even though google play is advertising version two, once you download it the version on the phone stil 1.... something....

You do not have to have 4.4....I have 4.3 and I'm using it. They're doing a staggered rollout so many of us will not get the update at the same time. It definitely could use some polish, but if another person is also using hangouts 2.0 they can send and receive .gif files...it's pretty awesome! 😀

Well I tried it and it was very plain for me... I have stopped it until they put the update and perhaps I can enjoy more of the features......

I just tried Textra. Tried to send a picture from my gallery, and it failed to send. It said pic was too large, and I have MMS set to "no limit". I went back and tried the same pic on Chomp and stock, and it went without any issue. I am confused, since Chomp and Textra are by the same people.

I mainly use textra to reply from the notification bar. Much more convenient than going in to the main app itself or the annoying popup when you are in the middle of doing something.

Try setting the limit to 300k

I got the messaging keyboard called touchpal, one you check out all the different themes it's really cool. Plus it's free. Also, the word prediction is awesome.

The new Google hangouts seems better than textra for me. And add the same capabilities. Just nicer integration on Google Hangouts.

Same capabilities? So the new hangouts can text for lock screen?

I haven't had an issue with either of the emojii. Both the normal faces and the android green ones. I don't see the need, and tried and uninstalled textra.

I am waiting on the day for all the people that use swype, and as more do, to not know how to properly type, or type quickly.

There is no quick reply. Pulling down from the notification shade, opens the text message in the application so you can reply.

Yeah that's what I figured. It isn't like the quick reply of ChompSMS or Textra.

I tried Textra and it looked cool but I never could get group messaging to work right. It would post my message 5 times in my thread if I was sending to 5 people. Very annoying. FYI sending to mostly iPhone peeps. Went back to stock And Works Great.

I use Gosms Pro as I like the themes... currently using steampunk theme which looks awesome. To me the stock messaging app is ugly looking.

Well I have been using Textra for a while now.. well until last night that I reverted back to the stock because I like the feature of scheduling a message, but what I like about Textra is the fact that you can add emojis right from the app rather than going to an independent emoji app while stock doesn't.

How do you schedule a message on stock?

You right the message and before you hit send, enter the menu button at the bottom. There you will find that one of the choices is schedule tex. Go into it and set the time and once the time is set press the send button and the message will be on stand by until it reaches the scheduled time.

This is what I was replying to.
