Why we hate Apple!!!

Mostly I hate Apple because of their obnoxious litigation and claiming they own every idea, no matter how obvious. I hate them because they are competing in the courtroom instead of the marketplace. I hate them because their product is more image than substance.

Are those valid reasons to hate Apple?

Very well said. The lawsuit stuff, why did they steal the name of The Beatles recording company in the first place, anyway? How'd they manage that?

The system allows them to patent their ideas.

The system allows them to defend the patents that were granted.

If they were competing solely in the courtroom, they wouldn't be developing new products.

They're not the only company that sues. Their lawsuits against one company aren't the same against another company. And they get sued too.

All business.

No. I think it's silly. You can want it all you want but Google stance so far (SD cards aren't good, Android isn't built to use them as anything other than storage, plus no royalties to Microsoft) means no SD cards in Nexus devices. Been that way since the Nexus S.

But whiners gonna whine. And I don't have to go about options because if you wanted a phone with an SD card, they're still available - just not as a Nexus phone.

A little bit of common sense would tell you that the chances of Google reintroducing SD card slots on Nexus phones isn't all that likely to occur anytime soon.

No one really looks for a phone that checks all the boxes, only a phone that checks enough of them. There is no perfect phone.

Rrrraaaagggggeeee.

Liking Android should not mean you must hate Apple.

Phew! Finally got through all 9 pages.

I will say that most of what I have read about Apple is (mostly) inaccurate. Most of that was already addressed though. I haven't owned an Android device since the first Nexus phone... and man was that a laggy mess. As far as those of you that think that the iPhone is laggy, you are dead wrong. I've stayed with iPhone for so long BECAUSE they are smooth and easy to use. The apps from what I can tell are very aesthetically pleasing vs their Android equivalents.

That being said I HATE the locked down OS! The multi-tasking on the phone is not exactly "true". For instance, on my Spotify app, if you start syncing your music and exit the app, after a few minutes the app will "pause" in the background. Recently a jailbreak has been released for all iPhones including the 5S (my current model). Problem is nearly all of the tweaks do NOT work for the latest A7 chipset, though I'm sure this will change. The screen is not high definition BUT it's sufficient for most people.

Now to address another complaint I'm seeing. Screen size... it's too small! Okay so here's where I'm a bit split on this topic. Apple purposely went with the taller screen to make the phone easier to use with one hand and in this sense the iPhone succeeds. I can reach every part of the the screen with my thumb without the use of a second hand... you'd be surprised how useful this is in many situations.

Now that I've played my part in defending iOS I will say this... I am switching to Android as soon as I get a chance. Not because the phone is laggy or because the screen size is small... it's because I'm tired of being in the locked down OS that is iOS. I understand there's a jailbreak and that is great but what happens next? Apple will upgrade and patch the jailbreak exploits and people will be left behind on their updates just to keep their root access. It's the never ending cat and mouse game until Apple has sufficiently patched all of the exploits to a point where the jailbreak community is stopped in it's tracks.

I'm done being part of that. I want my fricken customization WITHOUT having to fight with Apple's communist-like system.

As for rage.... Android's soaring marketshare at Apple's expense mitigates it a lot. Though I'd be lying if I said their bankruptcy would not make me chuckle.

I said Apple is not FOND of choice. And it's true. Their model thrives on exclusivity. On them being the only option. By contrast, Google can still make money even on Apple's own hardware. Their model does not require the absence of competitors. Android is not their real product... It's just a means to an end for them. That's why they give it away for free and why they eat the cost on Nexus phones.

No one is forced to buy Apple.

Um... So what? What does that have to do with anything? When did anyone say otherwise?

All Apple gear created and sold since the Mac Pro have been overpriced fashion statements, and I-phones is no different. These device tends to draw people with a visceral need to belong with what they seem to consider as being the "in crowd". As for the crowd willing to camp out to be the first owners of the devices, well... I believe there is medication for that....

Besides that, there is much to hate.... The closed eco-system, fanatical DRM, insistence on proprietary connectors, I-Tunes, Quicktime, and Apple file formats...
