Why won't certain texts not get delivered?

A friend and I say goodnight via text every night. ALL texts prior to the goodnight one arrive normally. Recently, the goodnight text, which is somewhat longer than the others, does not get delivered. The text immediately before that one, no problem. Then we'll ask each other if they got the goodnight text, and we didn't, so the text immediately after the goodnight message got delivered, along with subsequent ones. The only way the goodnight text differs is that it is longer (maybe 15 or so lines of text) and it contains emojis. We both use a Samsung Galaxy SM-G920V.

Text messages have a very small size limit. This is due to limitations of the protocol used for them. If they exceed the size limitations then they will either be converted to MMS or broken up in pieces. The pieces may not arrive in a legible order.

You should send shorter texts or use a different app, such as Google Chat or Telegram instead.

Is your friend using an iPhone or an Android phone? If it's an iPhone, then texts can sometimes get messed up because of iMessage jankiness when it comes to SMS/MMS.
