AC Question

My laptop and tablet won't recognize my S6 (AT&T).

I never had trouble connecting my S4 to my old Dell laptop or my new Surface Pro 3. I'm trying to transfer my music to my new phone and neither device will recognize my phone. is there a setting I need to change? thanks.

When you plug in your phone, do you here it trying to initialize the connection (Typically, there will be an icon in the task tray indicating that an external device has been connected).

In Settings-Storage, there should be a USB setting to check. To access the phone's internal storage, that will have to be set to MTP. If that is set, I would guess it would be a driver issue. Google how to install/verify the drivers for a Galaxy S6... that should do the trick.

Try installing smartswitch on your surface pro to check every thing is working fine 1st

Also remember to unlock your phone after connecting :)

Make sure the usb cable you are using is capable of data transfer. Some of them are charge only.

I've been trying to find/enable/check MTP settings on my Sony Experia (Android 4.4) for over two hours now, in order to get file transfers working... this seems to be a very common problem for people at the moment. I don't have any "More Options" item in Settings > Storage, and no "More" ellipsis top-right.

Open Developer Options first. Allow USB debugging. Attach your phone with your laptop or computer. It would now recognize the phone.
