Why won't my laptop recognize my sony xperia z3 dual?

Using the original USB cable but phone only charges when cobnect to pc or laptop

Welcome to Android Central! When you connect via USB, swipe down the notification panel--do you see a USB icon? If so, tap it and select MTP.

If you don't see an option to switch to MTP, then try a different cable, because USB cables can fail unexpectedly.
