Why won't my P30 pro dial numbers from Chrome?

Android Central Question

When I search for a phone number using Chrome and click to "call", it won't paste the number into the dial screen. It attempts to divert but just jumps back to the browser.

It's frustrating because I have to find the full number, copy and paste it, instead of just clicking the "call" option.

I've tried searching for answers and tips in forums and websites but with no success.

Chrome doesn't use the phone app to handle a phone number, it's not written to. (There's no "phone://" protocol on the internet.)

I'm new to Huawei and not a phone expert since I'm mostly deaf and don't do phone calls but I tried calling from Chrome.

I went to a website for Hotel Victoria in Oaxaca, Mexico, where I live, and on the contact page there was a "call us" button and I clicked and went straight to my phone dialer. Then I found a phone number ond address on another page and could neither hightlight the number or dial it.

Could it be the website that controls whether your phone dials or not?

If the phone number and address were actually an image rather than text, that might explain why it couldn't be highlighted. Can you include the link to that page so we can try it?

Try this instead, it worked for me. In Chrome search for 'Hotel Victoria Oaxaca teléfono' and you can get it in one of the first entries. Long press and see if you get the call option.Screenshot_20191028-224324.jpeg

Javier, I'm deaf. I didn't need to make a phone call. I was just saying I thought the problem might be with the webpage and not with the p30 Pro.

Yes, I get that. I mentioned the second option to make sure that the P30 was able to handle that phone number correctly.
