Why won't my phone let me remove the security lock?

AC Question

I am using a ZTE phone running Android 5.1, the carrier is Straight Talk wireless.

I am wondering why the phone will not let me select "none" under the security options. I have a pattern lock on it now, but when I try to change it to "none" of the security options (password, pattern, face, pin etc) it won't let me.

It says "disabled by the administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage" under None and Long press under security menu, and these options are grayed out.

Have I changed a setting or have my phone set up some way that won't allow this?

Is your phone encrypted? If the phone is encrypted you won't be able to have it set up with no lock code.

Do you have a business email on it or any work related software? It's rare but when I worked for Verizon I encountered a few customers that due to sensitive information their phones were required to have locks on them and they couldn't disable it.
