Why won't my phone lock/ recieve notifications?

Hey guys!

I've got a Moto G2, main problems I had:

- phone didn't lock
- the notifications didn't appear anywhere, I could just hear the sound - occasionally
- there was nothing on the drop down menu - no notifications and no other options like 'airplane mode' etc
- last but not least, I couldn't receive any calls (could receive messages though)


So, after surfing the web in many different forums (where it appeared that Factory Reset was the only solution), I bumped into this magic tip which saved me WITHOUT HAVING TO DO ANY RESET whatsoever!

First switch to Safe Mode (while the phone is switched on): Press Power button and Long press 'Power off' on the popup menu --> Choose 'ok' on the popup window with title 'Reboot to Safe Mode' --> go to Settings --> Users --> Choose 'Guest' and everything starts working fine on the guest account.
Then switch back to your account, turn the phone off and on again (this is needed to restore the applications that were disabled when we reboot into safe mode) and that's about it!

How do you access User Settings? I don't seem to have that option.

It's Settings, User as the post you quoted shows. Not User Settings.

Yeah, sorry I misworded that, it doesn't show up in my Settings.

Welcome to the forums. What phone do you have? Is that a Moto G? Some phones don't include the user settings.

Happy I found this place!

It's an M4, model-SS1060 I think. But yeah I think mine just doesn't have a User setting.
I remember it being on the Quick Access page, but since my phone has this thread's problem, I can't access that.

I tried this solution but when I try to switch to guest account in safe mode it returns to the owner account automatically and sometimes shows the error "google stopped working"
any body knows what should I do?

How then do you overcome all the above mentioned problems if the phone does not have a user option in settings? My moto g3 does not have that option.

Welcome to the forums. What problem are you having exactly? Sorry, this is an old thread and different issues were discussed here.

Most Moto model include the settings - users section. If you can't find it in your settings swipe down twice from the status bar and tap the small circle with a person inside on the top right of the screen.
