Why won't my phone turn on at all?

Phone will not turn on at all.

I have a year and a half old S4 and I've been having problems with it turning off randomly for about a month. Today, it stopped turning on at all. I've taken the SD card out, replaced the battery, tried a hard reset, nothing helps. It just won't respond whatsoever (unless I take the battery out and put it back in, then it flashes the logo briefly and goes to black).

Anybody have any idea what I should do?

Have you tried a new battery?

I had the same issue. A tiny piece of plastic broke off in the battery compartment. Apparently it holds the battery just right, otherwise as soon as the phone begins to boot, it shuts off. I took a small piece of paper and folded it about 1/16 inch thick and placed where the plastic tab came from. I still have issues randomly but haven't had to replace my phone.
