Why won't my Samsung Galaxy S5 turn on?

Samsung Galaxy S5 doesn't turn on

My phone was charging all night. This morning it worked perfectly.
Then, couple hours later I tried to use it, but the screen was black. I took out the battery and put it in again, but it didn't turn on. It vibrated for 1 second and stopped. The blue light turned on... And then nothing. Also, buttons (back arrow and the history button) randomly light up, maybe every 3-4 minutes.
What do I do? :(

Re: Samsung Galaxy S5 doesn't turn on

ok first thing I would try, is hold down your power button for about 30 seconds see if your phone boots up and runs after that.
A cache clear in recovery might also help ( it could be an app causing trouble).
Power down your phone, now press & hold the power button, volume up & the home button until your phone boots into Recovery. Now use the volume rocker to select Wipe Cache. Hit the power button to make it happen - give it a sec to clear the cache. Now use the volume rocker to select Reboot System - hit the power button & run you phone for a bit. See if this helps*

if nothing happens, you might try to go by your carrier and have them take a look at it if possible

Re: Samsung Galaxy S5 doesn't turn on

sorry posting of my Nexus 7 using Chrome is causing a lot of double tap lately. Mods please delete

Re: Samsung Galaxy S5 doesn't turn on

When I did it, the phone made a weird sound (you know when you take a picture?). The blue light appeared again and still nothing...

Re: Samsung Galaxy S5 doesn't turn on

Hmmmm...
try removing your micro SD card and then restart the phone. Pull your battery out remove your SD card then put your battery back in without the SD card in the phone.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S5 doesn't turn on

oh okay then, it sounds like a hardware issue but then again it could very well be a software issue...
has the phone been running hot lately?

Re: Samsung Galaxy S5 doesn't turn on

Well, I didn't really notice, but it's always hot when it's charging...

Re: Samsung Galaxy S5 doesn't turn on

I can offer a theory. An app ran away which caused your battery tooverheat and could have possibly damaged the motherboard.
That's just one theory...

can you try getting your phone into safe mode I don't know how much useability you have - if its just the screen not on or the phone not coming on at all.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S5 doesn't turn on

I agree with your theory :)
I use "sleep apps", so I guess that's what caused it... Would warranty cover expenses or replace the battery, what do you think?
Also, nothing shows up on the screen, the phone just makes weird sounds and lights up the buttons...

Re: Samsung Galaxy S5 doesn't turn on

your S5 should still be well under warranty :) you guys have two years over there right? Id definitely call your carrier first & then Samsung and just tell them you woke up to an usable phone.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S5 doesn't turn on

UPDATE
About a week ago I brought my phone to a technician. Today I got it back. The note written by technician says that logic board, battery and mechanical component were replaced. Hope this helps!

Re: Samsung Galaxy S5 doesn't turn on

Sounds like the componets got cooked due to excessive heat - but that's still just a guess on my part being that the battery was replaced along with the logic board.
Thank you very much for posting the outcome, and I'm glad you're back on track :)
