Wi-fi suddenly not working for apps other than the browser

I've had a nexus 7 for a few months without any problems with connectivity, when yesterday evening it suddenly wouldn't connect to the internet. The wi-fi icon is still there (and blue), and everything seems as if it's connected to my home network (which is working fine for other devices), but gmail, facebook, and the play store all register 'no connection.' The one exception is that browsers seem to be able to access the internet fine. I can't really think of what it might be, except that it might possibly have something to do with the fact that I connected it via USB to a mac recently for the first time (although I'm not sure how this would have affected it). Any suggestions?

I would remove the connection to your router by telling Android to forget it and then reconnect.

Great. It is likely you router just needed to re-issue an IP address to your tablet.
