Wi Fi vs. 4G

On the Evo, can you use Wi Fi to do everything that 4G can do? I mean I live in an area that probably won't get 4G for a long time, but if I'm somewhere that has Wi Fi can I still use that instead of 3G for data or streaming Sprint TV?

I'm pretty sure the answer is yes. I use wifi instead of 3G on the Pre so I don't see why it would be any different on a 4G phone. In fact, I'm pretty sure Sprint would rather you use your own wifi instead of using their network. :)

I'm 99.99% sure Sprint TV will not work on Wi-Fi. Everything non-sprint-app should. (Note that in many cases Sprint TV will appear to work on Wi-Fi, but is actually still using the 3G connection)

Sprint TV works via Wi Fi on Palm Pre...You would think evo would also ,,can anyone test this out...

No it does not. It runs off the Pre's 3G connection even when connected via Wi-Fi.

You can test this. Go into airplane mode, then turn on Wi-Fi. This will keep the 3G/phone radios off, only using Wi-Fi. Sprint TV will not work.

The reason is that Sprint TV's servers check IP addresses and will only serve to Sprint IP addresses.
