Wifi AND 5G both on simultaneously! Why?

Not strange. Your S10 doesn't have 5G.

I meant seeing the 5GE icon along with the Wifi connection icon at the same time on my S10. I'm seeing that on my new S21 along with the 5G icon.

I think you mean seeing the 4G icon and wifi logo at the same time on your S10. Your S10 does not have 5G, thus you would never have seen 5G and wifi both on your S10.

My S10 did have 5Ge on the At&T network which is enhanced 4G. But, the icon showed as 5GE.

If my Note 20 Ultra shut its data off when I connected to WiFi I wouldn't be able to make/recieve calls and wouldn't be able to send/receive multimedia messages.

I did find a switch that will toggle this. Have you changed anything in developer options? If you go to settings>developer options, look for a toggle for mobile data always active...if I toggle it while connected to wifi my 5G indicator goes on and off...just wondering if you may have turned on by accident..

Has anyone figured this out???? I had all these settings turned off since day one of this phone and it's bothering the hell out of me. It has nothing to do with 5G either because I actually turned off 5G because I seemed to have connection issues on AT&T and LTE works perfect in my area. Plus, battery life is better.

I remember this as far back as Note 9/s9 series , it just happens from time to time and don't matter my Att sim or TMobile, I haven't really looked into much but I believe a restart fixes it until it happens again.

A pop up here and there, yes. But not what my S21 Ultra is doing. After a restart or just connecting to wifi the LTE symbol won't be there. But then it appears and doesn't go away. You can tell it isn't using data as it doesn't have the animated LTE symbol going but it still bothers me.

I can't remember what I turn off to make go away in past

Very specific but I get both lte and wifi active at the same time when google duo is running in the background. Once I close it from the app switcher my lte goes away immediately.

I'm on a Note 10+, with no 5G, but I see 4G while WiFi on all the time. Never cared or even gave it a second thought.

I'm not concerned myself , I have unlimited data but even in past when I didn't have unlimited it didn't count against my data .

Any updates on this issue, am using s21 ultra and have the same nonesense problem, before I had note 9 and was nit like that

I see 5G on all the time too when on Wifi! I have unlimited data also but didn't really think of it as a problem but I do know itnever used to do that on previous phones that I remember.

It's happened for me all the way since S8 series and on , one thing can check in WiFi settings>advance>when have weak wifi then mobile data not checked but there are also other things have to go over when I get time .
