WIFI but error messages with some apps

My wifi setting shows connected, but I'm getting "check your connection/website address" error messages when I try to connect to Picasa, Instagram, maybe others
Also photo-instant-upload isn't working. I have an A T & T DSL connection at this location.
All this used to work till a couple days ago. Not sure what happened or whether some update caused it. I still have Android Version 4.0.4.
Unchecked the upload on wifi-only and that did not solve the problem.
Any suggestions?

Have you gone into your router's settings to see if it is reporting an active connection to the DSL? What about connection from another device to the wifi router, or even a wired connection to it to set if it's just your phone?

I have ATT DSL too and it goes out fairly often, but usually not for very long.
