Wifi calling issues

I have an ATT model and I never see the wifi with the + symbol up top ever. ATT said I should be good to go. I guess I need to do a factory reset. What is the best way to back up and restore to get the phone as close to back to my current setup as possible. Samsung backup?
Did you try the network reset option first?

But yeah use Samsung's cloud backup. Works really well. Maybe just don't restore phone settings just in case it brings back the issue.

On Samsung Cloud, I'm not sure how AT&T works but with Verizon, they essentially "hide" the Samsung cloud app so you never see it, in hopes you will pay them to user their overpriced cloud service for backup.

You can "unhide" the Samsung Cloud app and have it become visible using a simple technique detailed on a thread over at XDA. Once you get the icon to show, you are good to go. It functions properly.

I did try the network setting reset first. Sometimes it seems like it works and many times not. I never see the "+" symbol. I tried to make a call today with no reception and about 6MBPS wifi speed and just get emergency calls only. Brought my old LG in and the "+" symbol is always there and works pretty good wifi calling. Full reset did no help and att is no help.I'll try samsung. Great. Then of course the guys with iphones around me have no trouble. Awesome.

I would just call it in to AT&T for a warranty exchange at this point. Definitely sounds like a defective unit.

Honestly, no matter what At&t is telling you if you don't see the WiFi calling symbol it's not working.

Agree 100% - unfortunately I think this is your best option.

Does the replacement process go thru ATT or directly thru samsung

At&t since you got it through them... It might be a certain time frame though. I'd check with them. I had to replace a faulty device years ago & At&t just gave me a new one at the store but it was only 2 weeks old.

I went thru best buy so I have a walk in samsung center somewhat near me that maybe can help out.

So I'm on the phone with ATT last evening at home where I get great reception and all of a sudden I see the "+" symbol. I turn on airplane mode and wifi and everything works like a champ. The att person on the phone said they did nothing but look to see that the provisions were correct. She also said that a work around for this issue is to do the airplane mode thing. But the "+" symbol was there before I did the airplane mode. BUT I get to freaking work today, nope nothing. My old LG switch SIM cards and everything works like a champ. I so wanted to really like this phone and now contemplating to see how much I can get on ebay and just get another LG. She said samsung will probably send out a patch someday. Hate Hate hate. Number one reason I didn't buy a used or different phone was wifi calling.

Call AT&T and choose the option to do a warranty replacement. Tell them all the troubleshooting steps you've done including a factory reset and they should send you out a new device. I've done many warranty replacements and once they hear that you've exhausted all steps they'll send one out.

In case it is of assistance, I am in Australia & bought a dual sim S9+ (SM-G9650/DS) from overseas since domestic sales do not offer dual sim capability. I have a sim only account with Optus carrier in Australia and the wifi calling feature does not show up as an option to select on my phone.

After acting as a ping-pong ball between Samsung and Optus for a few weeks, Samsung technical finally looked into it and told me that I have to buy the phone from the same provider for the wifi talk to be available and because I bought it from outside Australia, it will not work with any Australian carriers.

For example, a model bought in Japan will only provide the wifi-talk feature with a provider in Japan. I find this odd as it should just be software related but the Samsung technical support person advised that it is hardware related. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised as this is probably intentional to prevent travellers from using wifi overseas and beating the ridiculous roaming charges.

On the positive side I found that the S9+ reception is far better than by old Galaxy 4 so it is not a critical issue.
