I have wifi calling enabled on my s8. When I'm at home sometimes my calls use wifi, sometimes it doesn't. Its random....am I supposed to turn the phone on airplain mode everytime to ensure wifi is used? I'm on verizon and my signal strength is -116 to -122 on 4g......not good at all.

I noticed calling issues with my Wi-Fi calling if the signal is not perfect. I am unlimited so I just turned mine off. Verizon s8+

Mine is kind of funky as well. At work on a rainy day, my signal strength is weak. With WiFi calling on, sometimes I still have trouble sending text messages, even with a very strong WiFi signal. I just turned it off.

So I'm thinking I will just turn wifi calling off. I might also turn off hd calling since that seems to give me some weird background noises when talking to people. My problem now becomes how to get a better signal to make calls without dropping them. My signal reads -116 to about -122 (seen worse sometimes) Am I a candidate for an extender or booster? I'm reading up on those but a little confused.....my signal in the back yard outside is -108.

See if your service provider will let you either try one or give you one for free. My mother had one and with a long enough time on the phone complaining to T-Mobile she finally got them to send her a free one. It wasn't a cure all but it did seem to help a bit.

Verizon S8+. calls will start on Verizon network and than switch over to Wi-Fi in the middle of the call. when it does this the person can longer hear me thou I hear them fine. as such I have turned off Wi-Fi calling. it did this with my Note 5 also. Verizon signal strength is strong in the house so don't know why it switches to WiFi

Strange.... I've never had that happen, however I don't own a Samsung

My s7 will drop calls when on Wi-Fi calling so I disabled it. I have unlimited calling

If a person has good 4g signal will this give you better call quality vs wifi calling? Less echoing, hiss, background noise...ect??

From my experience VoLTE is much better than wifi calling for clarity even with a good internet plan and excellent router. I turn wifi calling on only if theres zero signal.
