When i use SpeedTest.net app on my home network I average 5.5Mbps, yet when i tested 4G on strong connection i got a 6.97Mbps. I've tried everything to get my wifi speed to increase on the Shift to no avail. I'm wondering is there a wifi cap of some sort?

Nope...I just got 14.4mbps down and 3 up. I'm about 20 feet from an N access point

Edit: I'm not using an app, just the web browser pointed to speedtest.net's web site.

Interesting, i went to the site from the browser as well & got 14.5 down but only .88 up. I wonder if the app is using a different size file for the check though

If you suspect a false result, I'd recommend finding a large file somewhere of known size and downloading it over Wifi with your android browser, while timing the result. That should give you a pretty good idea of real life speed. Video files and/or large MP3's are good options. If you have a web site or FTP server somewhere you can test uploads the same way.
