WiFi connection alive but apps say "no internet"

Just got my Tab 3 7.0, replacing a week-old Tab 2 7.0 (needed autofocus on the camera), and both do this, unlike my old Thrive. Both at work and at home, the WiFi icon at the top as well as WiFi Manager show my connection is on and strong, but apps suddenly pop up and say there's no internet connection.
Typical scenario: I'll launch Evernote and sync, then check a note or two; close Evernote and immediately open Facebook or some other internet using app, and it either hangs while trying to update or responds that there's no internet connection. But my icons say there is. If I shut off the WiFi then start it again, all is well again, until...
The Toshiba Thrive isn't doing this, so I don't think it's either network; but curious it happens on two different Galaxy Tabs.

Welcome to Android Central! Try some of the following:

--At home, reboot the router by unplugging the power, waiting 10 seconds, and plugging it back in, then waiting another 20-30 seconds for the connection to reestablish.
--On your phone, go to Settings/Wireless & Networks/Wifi, select your home network, and tap "Forget network." Then reconnect.
--Try going into the router's settings (read the manual for this) and turning off security temporarily.
--If you have Bluetooth on, see what happens if you turn it off. Bluetooth has been known to interfere with wifi signal sometimes.

Hello,

I too am experiencing the same issue.

I have followed all of the standard instructions including forgetting the network and reconnecting, restarting my router, using another internet connection. The problem lies with my tablet and this seems to be a common problem.

Does anyone have any conclusive evidence on a solution to this seemingly systemic Samsung problem ?

Did you try the date/time fix?

I am having the same issue. I cannot connect to any network without first changing the connection to "static" and trying to find a working ip address myself.

What is the date/time fix?

I've only had this issue once. A simple toggle of the WiFi button from the pull down shade fixed it. Didn't even need a reboot or other high tech voodoo.

Sent from my Galaxy Tab 3 via tin cans and string.

Its easy to solve. All you have to do is get root explorer or any other file manager and open file ETC. You then need to find a file called hosts. Open this with a text editor and delete everything apart from the first line (localhosts). Save the file and you can open any app with no trouble.
:) enjoy

Hello
I tried the forget network on my android phone and reinstalled the password but the app still says no internet.

Greetings All,

I have three interesting problems, let's dig in...

1)- I own a Galaxy Tab 3
It has always been connected to my in-house wi-fi, worked for years never an issue, no changes were ever needed. Currently, the tab 3 is connected, however unable to browse, I tried Go.com | The Walt Disney Company nada
I tried a few big name websites and na-da worked [ sad face ]
My tab 3 is connected, I just cannot pull up anything no matter what browser I use:
Google
the icon Internet
I have restarted my router
I have deselected my SSID and forget, then reselected it
I have turned off my router [ cold boot ]
I have rebooted my tab 3
I have done a cold boot of my tab 3
I have banged my head on my desk in frustration, only left a mark, still the problem lives on.

2)- I cannot select a time zone, My time zone is UTC 5:00 I guess New York would work as New York shares the very same time zone as me, Montreal, Quebec, Canada
All that is shown is GMT
UTC is not on the list [ maybe it is missing ] I dunno, which is why I would appreciate your input.

3)- Power level on the tab is at 27%
Tab 3 powers off
Wasssssssssssssss with this?
( hmm I am thinking, change the battery on the tab 3 )
What do you think?

Hey, thank you in advance, I am open to all suggestions.

{ Note } I would hate like heck to do a factory reset I have tons of my crap on it - { yaya back it up duhh }

I had this problem with my tablet running KitKat but my Moto phone running Nugget was not a problem. After replacing the router all was okay, both now haven't had the disconnect problem for 6 months.

A simple thing but have you checked the date and time are correct on the device. This was an issue I had and my date was wrong.

Hello
I looked for a cite to fix my problem and found this one yet no one has had my problem or had a solution that fixed it .
On my phone and my tablet I have had similar problems
My wifi will be on and strong and I can whatch youtube and stuff like that but there will be one app on my phone it's vrv on my tablet it's Netflix that will have no wifi has anyone had a similar problem ir knows how to fix this one?

Hi. I was suffering from that issue since I've changed internet provider.. I tried all the replies here..non worked..
I logged into my internet account and discover as default the router has a protect shield... I have disabled it and everything works perfectly.. all apps .. all sites that previously didn't work..

Worth to try
Regards
