Just got the Nexus and a quick question as I'm new here and on the forums.
It looks as if I have wifi selected, I go into settings and find my home network. However, I click connect and nothing happens. It shows my network with a lock next to it. Is there an icon on the screen when I am on wifi vs. 4g? I downloaded some apps and looked at my usage and it still appears I am using 4g. Since I'm only on the 4gb plan and will use most of my data at home I'd really like to be using my fios. Thanks for any help.

If you see a lock sign next to your network that means you need to enter a key first. If you click on it a box should come up for you to enter it. And then once connected you'll see the wifi icon in the bar at the top of your screen.

As said, there should be a popup text box that allows you to enter the password for the network. I just connected to my work network, so I remember seeing the popup. After entering the password, hit the "connect" button.

This happened to me, I got the lock symbol in the settings where I entered the WEP password, but no symbol on the top of the screen next to the 4G. I had entered the WEP password wrong, clicked "forget it, then Scan", and reentered the correct password . Bing! now I get the WiFi symbol at the top!

Cool guys-Thanks. I was entering the WEP key with lower case letters. Now the wifi symbol shows and not the 4g, although when I look at the network in settings it still shows a lock but now says connected. Awesome! Now I just have to learn what apps are essential for the phone.

When I try to enter my wap2 password the popup box allows me to enter the password but the connect button is greyed out and I can't do anything help!

I'm having trouble connecting to my wifi as well. When I had my Incredible I had to setup a static ip. I attempted to make a static ip for my Nexus but there were several fields I didn't know what needed to be filled out. I'm still searching and haven't found anything. I'm able to connect to my wifi but I can't use applications that use the Internet.

Not sure...

Proxy settings: None/Manual
Network prefix length: ?

I HAVE A Problem As Well
New phone (my OD works fine) and am trying to connect to one of my two wireless routers in my home (I'm trying to use the "N" router that I have always used). I click on the connection, type in the correct Password, click connect and... the information says "Obtaining IP Address..." then nothing! I have tried many times. Nothing. I don't understand what else to do? I have redone my OD and it works fine.

It's protected by WPA/WPA2 if that helps.

Any suggestions??

I had the same problem. Fixed it by going into settings under data usage then Turning off mobile data usage and then turn wifi on and connect. Picked up an IP instantly. Then just go back into settings to turn data back on.

I was hopeful. This gave me several different things to try. Nothing worked for me. I'm still w/o WiFi on my Nexus.

I had to cycle wifi on off on one time while mobile data usage was off while near the router and it worked. Worth a shot if u didnt try it yet.

There is also a setting in there to have your router (provided it is capable of doing so) push the key to your device without you having to enter the password. I cant remember where in there it is but it is what I used. If my phone wasnt off and charging id go poke around to find it. Maybe someone else can point it out though.

All great suggestions. I found the settings, hit the "button" setting on the phone and then pushed the "smart" connect button on the linksys/cisco router... No Go. I tried many different times and combinations. I felt that this would do it, but nothing but the same.

Should I return this? My OD2 connects fine. Laptops connect fine. It's just my new Gnex phone doesn't connect via wireless. Otherwise it seems to do fine.

Under wifi settings "menu" key, "Advanced", there is a setting for wifi frequency band. It should be set to "auto", but you might try toggling that to 5 Ghz, 2.4, etc to see if it restores anything ..

And yes, reboot you router and Gnex if you haven't already. That's the only other thing I can think of ..

You guys are on the bleeding edge of technology, buying the Galaxy Nexus with all its features and are still using WEP? WEP can be hacked in 30 seconds. No one should be using WEP unless they have old wifi devices 5+years old that dont support WPA or WPA2. I have even seen some devices these days choke when using WEP because they are tuned to use WPA with TKIP or WPA2 with AES.

Get off WEP lol.
