WIFI Hot Spot Problem

Anybody know whats going on with the WIFI hotspot?
I have quicksettings installed, when I try and turn on the WIFI hotspot feature I get the following error message " Portable Hotspot Network is unavailable"

My 3G connection is good and surfing the net works fine. This is a warranty replacement phone, my new out the box phone that I sent back worked fine with this feature. Or is it a simple "network issue?"

How new of a phone?
In about phone what does it say is Android version, Baseband version?

The new Optimus V's have wifi hotspot disabled. Its built into the phone hardware. Not even sure a custom rom will do it without some hacking and slashing.

The new phones that come with Android 2.2.2 have hotspot disabled. If you really want Wifi Hotspot your going to have to root and possibly install a custom rom.

It's got vm670vz5. The phone was sent last week warranty claim. So it probably a refurbished one with the hot spot feature blocked. Looks like ill have think about rooting this thing..... but I don't think I'll do it as it will void the warranty should I need to exchange the phone again. Bummber may have to look into pdanet as a 2nd choice. Any other thoughts?
