WiFi Hotspot- Free Trial on Charge?

This may have been covered before, but does the Charge come with a free trial of the 4G mobile hotspot like the Thunderbolt?

I think the free trial expired. I just tried on mine and it's asking for $30/mo.

What about rooted devices?

I am rooted but I haven't really had the need to tether right now becasue I have a netbook with the verizon radio built in. I have read that you can get free tethering with a rooted Charge so I will find out when the netbook term is up.

They just rolled out 4G in my area. I'd like to try the Wifi hotspot. I don't understand why I have to pay for wifi hotspot when I have unlimited data plan. Reminds me of the time when cable companies tried to charge you for each computer connected to the internet.

I see that there are apps tested for other phones? Any idea if we have one in the works for Charge?

Before the update, all you had to do was change the phone date back to May and Hotspot worked again. Still haven't run the update on mine, but I assume they took that out.
