WiFi interfering with bluetooth?

So, I've got a little bluetooth stereo that I want to stream music to from my Pro tablet, problem is whenever wifi is enabled the stream is completely garbled and useless. If I turn wifi off and just play music that's on the tablet then bluetooth works as expected. Also if I switch to 5ghz wifi it works too, but I can't use that because of the range limitations. Is there anything I can try other than exchanging it? Thanks.

Welcome to Android Central! I've read some articles about wi-fi interfering with Bluetooth in some instances, but it doesn't seem to happen often, and I'm not sure what factors cause it to happen. Have you tried a different 2.4 GHz wi-fi channel? Log into your router's settings via your computer browser and change the channel from there.

I wonder if the problem lies with the tablet or the wireless speaker. Can you test it out on another Bluetooth speaker?

Unfortunately WiFi and Bluetooth share the same frequencies in the 2.4ghz band.

They share the same frequencies, but that still shouldn't cause distortion, since most people are able to stream music over wi-fi and play it over a Bluetooth device without difficulty. I'm not sure why this distortion happens for some people.
