WiFi Issues

Is there an issue with setting a chanel out to the upper limit? I ask because I just checked and it looks like I could set it to chanel 14, but that is the top one. Is there a drawback from setting the top channel?

This is what happens to mine. It will be connected to wifi, then it will drop off and I will see my 3G logo for a few seconds then it will hop back on to wifi again. It does this quite a bit. Is this the same thing that others with wifi issues are experiencing? It never shuts me out where I can't connect at all, it's just these drop outs that are so annoying.

When I am on 5GHz it never drops out at all. The signal isn't as strong but it never disconnects. Leads me to believe that if it was a hardware issue, it would disconnect also on this setting, correct?

I have the constantly dropping issue while at home but not at work. Seems like an issue with particular routers. For instance, I think my linksys 3200 blows, but whatever they use at work is better.

The wifi not keeping constant connection is a defect! I had the same problem with my EVO and took it back, the phone I have now has had no connection issues what so ever. Also doesn't have the bleeding light from the home button (had that problem also). If you can, exchange your phone.

I'm past my 14 days, so what is my best bet to get a replacement? Asurion or sprint corporate store?

I had the same experience as MJBlanks. It's definitely a defect. I couldn't connect to WiFi. I exchanged mine, and I haven't had a problem since. Nastyneil, take the phone back and ask them to exchange it under the manufacturer's 1 year warranty.

I will, but the store I purchased from isn't corporate with a repair center, so they refused me and told me to go to a corporate store. I guess will go tonight. I don't live very close to one.

Could you connect at all or did you connect and then get drop outs and reconnects?

I could connect very rarely. 90% of the time, my phone wouldn't even recognize the presence of any network.

Also, at most retail stores, they can mark things as "defective", and the manufacturer will credit them for the item that they give you in exchange for the defective item. The retail store will not try to repair yours and give it back to you in that case. Be sure to be clear that you're trying to exchange it for a replacement. Again, this is a general policy at most retail stores, but it's not always true. Good luck.

I just got back from the Sprint store with a new phone. Wifi worked in the store but not at my house on the new phone. The one I traded in worked ok with only a few minor issues until the OTA update. Wifi would not work then 2 days later my Notification bar stopped working(would not open). I got a new phone after a few resets. I have a CISCO Linksys E3200 Router. What routers are other using?

I resest my router, uploaded latest firmware on my router still no wifi on LTE. It connects but does not go anywhere and times out.

WRT-54GL running Tomato Toastman.

Try locking the router into G mode and see if that makes any difference.

Just got back from Sprint corporate store and they refused to give me a new phone because after factory resetting my phone and connecting it to wifi in the store, they saw absolutely no problem with the phone. I am now home and experiencing the same problem. I have a Belkin dual band router and I am starting to wonder if it is the router that is the problem. I have a cable modem, so can I still give it a Static IP address?

See the post above yours.

How do I do that?

That depends entirely on the equipment you bought and how you have it set up.

My Linksys WRT54G running Tomato Toastman is already "G" only, so there is nothing to change. But if I wanted to change something, I go to http://192.168.1.1 and login, then go to the appropriate settings.

Perhaps this is closer to your equipment: http://www.corenetworkz.com/2009/07/setup-belkin-wireless-n-router-by.html but I suggest you obtain and use your manual.

Well I am having an issue where my phone actually reboots while on wifi at home and it creates an error message to send to HTC.I on my third phone and have had the same problem on on all 3 phones.
Today I decided to do a hard reset while at work and used the wifi at work to set up my phone including reinstalling all my apps.I had no disconnects or reboots.
When I got home as soon as used wifi my phone rebooted and created the usual error message.
Whenever I would do speedtests it started out fast and then it the speeds drop to almost nothing, so I usually have 200-850 download and 1200 upload.
After reading this thread I decided to try setting the router to "g" only as suggested.
I did some more speed tests and now I am seeing over 5200 down and 1500 up.
My internet use is so much faster now.I will report back and let you know if this has also solved my rebooting.

So please try setting your router to G only and see what happens

I have a Belkin Wireless N router. This may be a stupid question, but can it be set to run only G? Thank you in advance.
