Do we have to enter each network onto the watch individually? Is there any way to use the WiFi settings already present on the phone? Specifically, if my phone is connected to a particular network, is it possible for the watch to use the same settings? Is there any functionality to d/l the data relating to the various network directly to the watch, so that we don't have to enter each network separately?

Figured when I heard about this feature that would have been the way it should have worked.

I haven't gotten the update yet so don't know exactly how it works, but IIRC, the WiFi networks were supposed to be the same as the ones entered in your phone.

The watch pulls the WiFi info from your phone. If you try to connect to another WiFi network via the watch, it will ask you to confirm it on the phone.

It is much worse than expected. No, it doesn't pull settings from the phone at all. When I tried to use WiFi on the 360, I had to MANUALLY select a network and then ENTER THE STUPID PASSWORD for each new network for the watch via the phone. This is extremely irritating!

Plus, I have no idea how this is even supposed to work...

1) When WiFi is on, does it use it all the time? Or does it just use it if you are not connected via bluetooth? Or does it use it when you LOSE your connection via bluetooth?
2) How can we even tell when it is connected via bluetooth vs. Wifi now?
3) Will the watch revert back to bluetooth when back in range of your phone?
4) Will it automatically connect to any known WiFi network?
5) How much battery is this using when WiFi is "on" but not connected?
6) How much battery is it using when actively connected to WiFi?
7) Does the phone have to be on the same WiFi network as the watch?
8) Does the phone have to be on the same SSID access point as the watch, even if the two access points are on the same network (phone on one, watch on the other)?
9) How can you even test that you are really connected via one or the other?
10) Are text messages and phone alerts sent through WiFi? Or is it just for data access for things like searching and maps on the watch?

Lots of questions, few answers :(

I don't understand why it makes you input the password for saved/known networks.

1. AFAIK the bluetooth on the phone toggles the wifi on/off on the watch. phone BT on/watch wifi off.
2. wifi symbol next to battery icon (when you pull down) when wifi on.
3. No.
4. No, needs password.
5. Too soon to tell.
6. See #5 ^^
7&8. Yes.
9. You either have a wifi icon next to the battery symbol on watch, or your bluetooth on your phone is on and you have no cloud icon on your watch.
10. I get phone and text notifications on the watch with wifi.

I've only played around today with it so don't hold me to anything. It's all new to me too.

Here's a vid about the update, wifi part starts at 5:40ish.

I believe 7 & 8 are no. I remember reading in some promo 'forgot your phone at home' which wouldn't work if restricted to same network or ap.

I hope your right. Today I'm getting no notifications at all on wifi on my watch?!?! Back to bluetooth! :D

What a total failure. The one time I really needed to use WiFi today.... I was outside for a while and got the alert from my app that I lost connection. It already sucked my battery down to 53%. I expected it to shift to Wifi, but instead it said "Turning off WiFi to conserve battery" (at 53%???? That is too low???). So I told it to turn it back on anyway. It turned it on, then it turned itself right back off again with the same message. Did it three times. Got pissed and rebooted the watch. THEN WiFi stayed on.... and then I get the text message I apparently missed 15 min ago. Tried to reply to it THREE TIMES, each time it said it could not contact Google (I am perhaps 30 feet from a powerful N router and connected with at least half bars on my Nexus 10). Finally I replied to it successfully. Went back inside 20 min later and looked at my phone- in 8SMS there is no record of my having sent the message at all. So I sent it again, from the phone, just to make sure it went through.

Lots of promise in the features, but if they don't work right, then what is the point? It is more confusing and frustrating than ever now :( At 50% battery after only 9.5 hours off the charger... lowest I have EVER seen the battery, I am normally at 70% or so after 16 hours off the charger.

Sorry if I sound a bit negative, but I am pissed at the moment.

I'm back to bluetooth, at least it's reliable. I don't trust the wifi yet. :'(

I'm in the same boat, hate to say I'm proud someone is having an issue with the WiFi feature on this watch, I was thinking I was going crazy, I've fooled with this thing off and on since I got the update Thursday, and the WiFi function is so finicky, it will work and sometimes it won't, and like yourself, I have good router. I'm not quite there, a little part of me says I can get this watch working but I'm about ready to just go back to fully relying on the Bluetooth connection and screw the WiFi feature, to hard to get it to work correctly.

I hate the idea of giving up on such a possibly neat feature; especially one that can potentially solve a real problem. But I need to know when I am and am not connected. If I can't rely on WiFi to actually work when it is supposed to work, then it might not be worth using it at all.

So far the battery drain has been ridiculous. I don't know why but my guess is the WiFi connection drains the heck out of the battery. I haven't been home long enough or near any other networks to test but tomorrow I will add my work WiFi so that will be a real test. My bet is: I'll be REALLY happy I bought a spare watch charger for work as I'm guessing I'll be having a dead watch before lunch. :/

I refuse to charge a WATCH in the middle of the day. Battery life more than a day doesn't matter to me at all, but it had better last through a whole day until I place it on the charger before bed. And no matter how much I use the 360, it has always lasted way more than a day (typically charging it at night with between 50 to 70% remaining battery when I place it on the charger).

I have a feeling the WiFi feature is a total fail on the 360- not just because of battery sucking, but because it just doesn't work right, either. Maybe in future models (better WiFi hardware and/or more efficient power usage and/or larger battery) and with future software (debugged) it will be something very useful. Color me disappointed with my initial testing.

I'm like yourself, I was really counting on this feature being bullet proof, one of the many reasons I bought a moto 360, and I was wanting one since Sept. I really want this to work but like yourself, I decided the heck with it and turned the feature off. I guess I'll be relying on Bluetooth and hope that an update comes out for this watch.

Answer for 7&8 is "yes and no".

Yes, for saving a new Network on Moto 360, you need your phone to be in same Network.

No, if you have already saved a Network, you can connect your Moto 360 to this Network no need to phone again, and after connecting Moto 360 to a saved network, you can reach your phone even your phone located at 1000 kms away... (of course your phone must be online)

My Answers:

1- Not using all the time, I have seen a setting at 30 Minutes, I think it will drop the Wi-Fi if it's idle for 30 Minutes, it does not connect automatically when you loose Bluetooth connection in either case..
2- Wifi icon appears on the watch when you connect to WiFi
3- If you come back to the Bluetooth range it will automatically connect BT as usual, unless you are making device busy with anything via Wi-Fi
4- No it needs tapping to connect
5- Not sure
6- Not sure but sure more than Bluetooth
7- If you will join a new Wireless network yes you need phone to enter password of network, but if the network is already saved no, your phone can go another wifi or mobile and still Moto 360 will reach the phone.
8- Look at 7 but not sure about access point case
9- Watch indicates wireless connection, if there is no icon on the watch so you are out of wireless network and you are on bluetooth if you phone's BT is ON
10- They have to be, if not what will Wi-Fi do for us :) I tested sending watch face via Wi-Fi and it worked very well (Watch was on home network but phone was on mobile network) I tried to use Find My Phone application on same setup and it worked too, phone rang. I tried Wear Camera Remote and it worked too.. So why will not notifications work?

I wanted to update my post. My watch drained 15% in less than an hour this morning. I charged it, same thing. Before I was going to blame the update, I switched watch faces to a stock Android Wear face.

Therein lies the blame, third party watch face was killing my battery. Seems to be pretty ok at the moment, but I haven't had a ton of time to test everything. I"m going to leave a stock watch face on for a few days and see how the battery drain goes.
