wifi on or off

I think most of us have read that having WiFi always on uses less power than 3g constantly searching for a signal. My question is if I toggle the WiFi switch to on is that all that is necessary to be considered to have WiFi on?

depends.. if you turn WIFI on and it doesn't connect to a router, it goes to sleep when the screen turns off.

this can be changed in the WIFI settings, but typically it'll go to sleep.

and yes, using WIFI over 3G will yield better battery life in almost every situation.

I always leave my WiFi on and have pretty good battery life. Leaving WiFi on so when I am home it automatically connects .
