wifi only xoom: where's my youtube app?

I did a factory reset, other then it being a pain in the ass to reset everything I did get the youtube app to work.

Hello All,

I am new to your forum and having the same issue. Got my Xoom this morning and the YouTube app is not there, but says it is in my system. It will not let me download it from the market either. I've done a factory reset a couple of times, did all the syncing, but nothing is working.
I read on the 1st page of this thread, that there may be a file missing (apk?), is that something I can do as a newbie, or should I take this back for an exchange? My book app that came with this tablet is not working either.

I got a wifi only model from Costco and I seem to have the same problem: No Youtube app even if the system thinks it is installed and Google Books is not installed (might have something to do with being in Canada)

I've tried everything - even getting an apk file...nothing is working.

Just got my from amazon this morning, no youtube as well... I tried it all except factory reset. .which I saw someone already do and did not work. I cleared cached on my apps in applicaiton, no luck.

Let me add to this. Got the costco xoom. Worked fine with books and youtube etc.
I did a factory reset and now youtube and books is gone. I am confused!!!!!!

Just wanted to share with you that I was able to get YouTube back and working again. I am new to this forum and am not sure about posting a link where I found the answer, sorry. But I did find it over at XDA, under the "Missing YouTube on My New Xoom" - The EStrong file manager is the one I used.
Good luck!

thanks!!!! this REALLY helped me! now...how do i get my books app to work?

Someone said install the app from market and don't open it. Just reboot the device. It should work after that. I haven't tried it but it's worth a shot.

I have same issue also with google boos and facebook widget always goes to force close. Anyone else?

Facebook does not work properly. Seems like they haven't optimized it for Honeycomb yet.

If I were google I would have a team sit down with FB and churn out a GOOD android app today. :(

I saw YouTube listed as Not Installed in the Market and when I tried to install it, it wouldn't. The reason I can't install the Market version of YouTube is because it's version 2.1.6 and the version that came preinstalled on my Xoom is newer - it's at version 3.0.15.

Google books fix:
https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/48900

From looks of things, data is supposed to get loaded on xoom after a factory reset. Which includes google books among other things. After you do the above it can take 30minutes or more depending on connection speed for google books to reinstall. Not clear yet if procedure also resolves youtube problem on its own or not.
