Wifi Problems with Kitkat

I've had this issue since updating to 4.4.4 on my nexus 4. I don't use JD and or battery saver apps. When my phone went to sleep the WiFi would turn off as it should, then never turn back on it would get stuck trying to turn back on, the button would be in the on position say "on" but be greyed out and unclickable, I'd have to reboot phone to get it to work. As a workaround I changed the settings so the WiFi always stayed on when the phone was on sleep which now however seems to turn the WiFi on automatically whenever it wants even after I turn if off.
