Was wondering if anyone knows the max speed of a transfer say over a wireless G network? i seem to get CRAPPY download speeds from my phone to my WIFI. like 1 megabyte a second when i know Wireless G can normally achieve 6mb a sec download. Is there a cap on how fast the phone can recieve data? When i do speed tests on my phone via the wifi i always get 1mb and under speeds. When i do a speed test from my PC, i get my normal 8-9megabit download speeds.

Anyone have any input for this?

Thank!

(transferring movies over my wifi to my phone basically, and it sucks donkey balls for speed!)

I usually see 6-7mbps on my phone with a 20mbps Internet connection

Sent from my LG-VM670 using Tapatalk

I am getting 11.3 Mbps on a 15 Mbps connection. on my phone.
Even though you have a G enabled router if you have any older devices that use 802.11B connected that will slow the G down to the B speeds
Check your signal strength also a running microwave may slow it down and some cordless phones.
Do you see other wireless networks near you when you scan? If you do you can get a wifi analyzer app from the market and see which channels are being used and try switching channels.

Thanks for the reply guys. After looking at your speeds i was convinced it wasnt my phone and it was my router settings. Wouldnt ya know it that after i disabled the AFTERBURNER option i am now getting max speed!

Thanks for the feedback!

You would think with a setting named "AFTERBURNER" It would be crazy fast but I have enabled that and it sucks.
I am not even sure what it is supposed to do, What speeds are you getting?

Well after turning off afterburner my speeds are hitting near max on my cable modem connection. 9.8Megabit/s (out of 10megabit/s) and 0.98 upload (out of 1megabit/s)

Afterburner i believe is a setting only for Afterburner enabled wireless devices, which obviously my phone is not. but if it was afterburner capable im sure it would go faster then the 54g rated speed, at least from what i've read in the past.

Is there a app i can download for my phone to tell me just how fast my current speed is? and i dont mean Speedtest.net or others like that. i mean say if i was transfering a file from my PC to my phone, it tells me JUST how fast its transferring. From my pc side it looks like im getting about 600k-800k/second uploaded to the phone, which isnt bad, but i know thats not the max a 54g can go. Happy with the current results, just curious as to how fast it goes. I've read that in theory 54g can download about 6megabytes(not megabits) a second of data.

Strange...
I have a 32meg connection, and a high end, dual band router and a max signal

Mixed mode (B,G,N) = 5mbit
B/G mode = 4.5mbit
G mode only = 2.5mbit
