I rooted my phone, and tried to use the wifi tether program, but I can't open any webpages. My computer connects to the phone, but for some reason I can surf, It just keeps saying page cannot be displayed. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the root tether app, but same thing. I tried barnacle tether and same thing, I can connect to phone, but cannot open web pages. I tried 2 different laptops and still same thing. Can anyone help. I like the epic, but if I can't get tether to work, I'll have to send it back. Thanks guys in advance for any help.

I got it to work. I had to go into setting and actually check the galaxy s or epic 4g can't remember. Now I just need to find out how to force my phone into 3gmode only. It keeps flipping from 1x to 3g and I'm even using amplifier. My touch pro 2 had a app that forced 3g only. I really hope there is a way to do this with the epic 4g. I'm sure there is, but it's way above what I know about phones. If anyone knows of anyway to do this, please let me know.

The changing of 1x to 3g is just a signal issue I think. If your not getting a strong enough 3g signal then the device is going to bounce back and forth until it locks on the best signal.

But is there a way in the registry to stop the 1x and force just 3g, or doesn't android support anything like that. Like I said my tp2 had a registry script that forced 3g only and it wouldn't look for 1x. Is there any way to get into the registry of the epic, maybe I can look at my tp2 and see what actually gets modified, and maybe I can tweak the epic to do the same.
Thanks for the reply.

Here is what I found on the TP2 how to force 3g only.

"Sprint doesnt have Ev at all in my area so i force Ev using the registry. go to: hklm/software/oem/epst

4= automatic mode
10=Ev Only mode"

Is there a way to access the epic's registry so that I can see if this would be possible with it?
