wifi tethering problem

sorry guys for posting another wifi tethering problem but i couldnt find and posts on my same problem. I rooted phone with one click root on android centrals site. i am the superuser. when turning on wireless tether is says it started but with errors and go to show log. i do that and it shows six different messages. five say done in green and one is red and says failed (Activating encryption, wpa_supplcant)... failed

i have reboot my phone and turn on and off several times. my computer has wireless but doesnt pick it up. my wife has a fascinate also and it doesnt pick it up either(i dont know if it can but i figured it should but my ipod touch doesnt read wifi either. i changed wep passphrase and the ssid network name. any suggestions would be greatful. also my wifi is off on phone if that matters but i turned it on and same results. if anyone knows if i can take a screenshot of that screen i will try and post. cant figure it out, site that picme doesnt show up.

Launch Wireless Tether app > Go into Settings > Select Encryption setup method > make sure it is set to "Auto".

I don't believe we have wpa_supplicant on our phones (yet).

I did like you said setting encryption setup method to auto. my computer at work connected to it but would not pull up a site, said internet explorer cannot display the webpage. I have 2bars of service and phone shows 3g. Think i should unroot and start all over again?

i dont have lag fix yet, do you think that may help?

Lag fix is not going to help. I don't recommend anyone install lag fix until they know they absolutely need it.

I would suggest trying to make it easy on yourself. Go download Barnacle Legacy from the market, and try tethering from that app. It's very simple. Use task manager or task killer to make sure the other tethering app is not running at the same time.

Your kernal doesn't support the wifi tether yet, that's your problem.
And lag fix will help you on your speed. There is a working wifi tether somewhere out there but I think its at xda.

I'm rooted and have S-off. Running King Kernel #1. My computer recognizes the wireless connection but can not connect.

I have an issue with Wifi tether to, i can start it and it works fine.. but I cant stop it. I click on the "stop" button but nothing happens. I have to restart my phone everytime.

did u apply any kind of settings under the wifi app to make it work, i have rooted my fascinate and downloaded the pre9 apk app. i turn the app on and my computer finds the ssid but has limited connectivity, is there something else i need to do?
