Is there any way to prevent WiFi from scanning every 5 seconds when connected to my home WiFi? This seems like a battery drain to me!

Mine is doing the same thing. Very annoying. Seem silly to keep scanning when it's already connected.

I didn't pay enough attention to know if this was happening before the update. Was it?

No. Once you were connected to a wireless router, your phone wifi would stop scanning. Now it scans all the time no matter what!
