Will 5.0 install automatically? What to do to stay as is

I just completely reset my n7 2012 for my wife to use and its working much better than before with no lag and reasonably quick.

I hate the thought of putting an OS on that was obviously designed for a much more powerful processor and finding the machine is bogged down again.

Can you prevent 5.0 from being installed and if it was installed can you go back to previous without rooting and flashing a previous image?

It won't install automatically, but it will keep prompting you. It might not let your decline the update forever.

I have read some posts about how Lollipop seems to have breathed new life into the 2012 N7, so it may still be worth it.

But if the life with is slower than before how hard is it to go back?

Does this mean I can go back to 4.4.4 after the cluster mess that 5.0 has turned out to be?

You should be able to, although I haven't tried it myself.

That was not my case, after a week of declining it just went away and now that I want it it tells me the system is up to date. How can I force it to get it now?

It may be that the update was pulled. Many people with the 2013 Nexus 7 (including me) saw the notification there, then it disappeared.

Mine is a 2012 and so is my wife's, she was never offered the upgrade.
