Will 8GB suffice?

8gb is absolutely more than enough...

why would anybody need to store that much data on the phone?

that's what the Google Cloud is for, isn't it?

(the above statement is only true for people who have smoked too much pot or drank a gallon of vodka)

Because many like myself are throttled after 5GB or others that are on tiered data or shared family plans. Then there are those that get charged overages when they go over their allotted data. Cloud storage in this day and age is a good idea but not ideal when you have a limit as to how much data you can use. You also can't run apps from the cloud.

Now there OTG storage. While also a good idea why on earth would you tether something to your device to watch a movie or access stuff that you can easily store on your device? You also have the extra cost of OTG devices, then why not just pay for the extra storage? Doesn't make sense.

To sum it up, maybe an 8GB works for you BUT not for the average user. For a mere $50 it's a no brainer, get the 16Gb model. Also remember it says 8Gb but you're only getting a little over 5GB.

You didn't read the last sentence of my reply, did you? :D

I was being sarcastic!(to put it mildly) There's nothing more
that I hate more than a smartphone with no SD card slot.
(and don't even get me started on idiot manufacturers who
refuse to put removable batteries in their smartphones) :D

My current spare phone is a Samsung Galaxy S3 and it currently has 96GB memory.
It came with 32GB and I put a Sandisk 64GB Class 10 MicroSDXC in it. ($44 from Amazon.com)

16 GB is just enough for people who will use Nexus 4 for pictures, apps, games or videos or anything that may consume large memory. However, there are also people that only want a "smartphone" for texting, calling, emailing, surfing the web, and etc. The price is just so tempting.. Really..

Looking at my usage on my EVO LTE, I could probably get away with a 8GB Nexus 4. Since I have used about 1gb for everything.

I'm going to go with the same answer I gave on an identical thread for the Nexus Seven, with one caveat - the Nexus 4 has a CAMERA.

Still, the net of my answer for the Nexus Seven was, "I'll never use more than 8GB. So I'm buying 16GB. Because I've been wrong about 'I'll NEVER use' assumptions before, and I tend to keep devices for a long time".
