will a deleted contact synced to google still show a name if they call?

my boyfriend recently shared his screen on discord and his ex called with her name showing, he told me it must’ve been because it was synced to google contacts because he had her deleted. is this possible? or is he lying and had it saved this whole time?

There's also Caller ID, which can identify someone who's not in your contact list.

This forum really isn't the right place to hash out relationship issues and try to figure out if someone is lying or not. Talk it out. If this level of basic trust is a problem, then maybe it's not the right relationship for you.

From the phone standpoint itself, once you delete a contact it's instantly deleted from the cloud... I have 2 separate phones and lines with the same Google account, when I delete a number from one phone it instantly disappears from the other. And I've never had a name show up with a number that wasn't in my contacts.

I thought that might be good info for folks to know in general... but I hope I didn't just help end a relationship

I've definitely seen names pop up from people not in my contacts thanks to Caller ID. Happens all the time at work. You're in the UK, right? Does Caller ID work differently there? Maybe it's more limited than in the US?

When her name popped up it just showed her first name all lowercase, the number, and the city and state. Is that possible or is it because he added the contact info in himself?

Hi, did you post the original question?

City and state are normal to see with Caller ID. As for the name, it's possible that person only used her first name for her Google profile, which is what can show up in Caller ID.

And it's possible that we may not be getting caller ID through AT&T, although since we're paying for VVM I assumed caller ID would be included.

My wife just checked and caller ID is an option that we apparently don't have lol. Strangely enough, I've never missed it

When one of our contact numbers shows up in a call, we only see the name, never a city, state, or address even if we entered those in the contact information.

It sounds like your boyfriend was telling the truth

The database is smaller in the UK where not all numbers are listed with names. So pretty much caller ID only shows businesses as well as people listed in your contacts
