Will a Samsung S7 Active work in the UK?

A friend of mine is thinking of buying a Samsung S7 Active in the US from Amazon and using it when he's back in the UK. Would the phone work (assuming it is already unlocked on Amazon)? And if not, how difficult is it to make it work? Has anyone tried this before? Thanks!

I have an S7 Active I bought late last year on EBay and it works perfectly well.It came unlocked,but even if it wasn't,you could get an unlocking code sent to you from one of the specialized websites that supply them.As they are all AT&T phones originally,I do not think the system updates are given as you would not be an AT&T customer.Mine is still on Android Marshmallow.By the way,I live in the Channel Islands.
