Will a unlocked Samsung S4 gsh-1337 (ATT) work in the UK?

I will be spending several months in England and would like to use my unlocked US based Galaxy S4 (gsm). My plan is to purchase a local sim card when I arrive in the UK. All phone specifications indicate that it should work. I plan to use the phone mostly for local calls, texting, and internet. I do not plan to us it to call back to the US. Will the unlocked Galaxy S4 (ATT) work? Do I have change any setting beyond purchasing a Sim card? Thanks in advance for your help.

It really depends on the carrier. Most won't be 4G, some won't work at all. Here, punch in your specs and click ALL for carriers to compare.

Thank You for the quick reply. I followed your link and as you said most carriers support 2G and 3G. None support my phones 4G LTE. Can I assume that since the my phone works with their network (2G and 3G) that the network will support texting and multimedia texting?

Yes, and you really shouldn't have to tinker with settings - inserting the carrier's SIM should set the APN settings automatically - if it doesn't, you can ask right there what settings they use. And you will get some data, just not fast data speeds.
