Will ChompSMS not resize pics automatically?

So, forgive the blasphemy, but I like using ChompSMS because I can set it to look like the iPhone's text balloon layout. Problem is, when I try to send a picture that is over 600kb, it just fails to send. I know that the original HTC messaging app will automatically re-size to something sendable.
Is there a setting in the ChompSMS app that will auto re-size that I'm missing? -or- Is there some way I haven't found yet that will allow for larger files to be sent?
