Will Extensive Data Roaming cut me out of contract?

Yes it does which then gets handed over to all of us customers. Just pay your etf like a big boy, and be on your way.

Yes, since they didn't offer me termination, I will have to pay EFT next weekend and move on. Their service is unusable in my area.

It shouldn't be too much money if you've been in the contract for a while. Whichever carrier you switch to utilize the 2 week refund period in the beginning to make sure they will give you good service where you are.

At the same token if Sprint cant give him service then he should be able to just walk away. Why does Sprint get the choice to break the contract but the paying customer does not? Its an issue with all carriers to be honest. It needs to be fix. Even Verizon and att are plagued with the same process.

Because they signed a contract and got a phone on a discount. Do I really have to explain this. Otherwise people could sign up get a new phone, go roam and get kicked and keep the phone.

For the fact its a rare issue for Sprint or any other carrier they could also hold the right to black list that phone from working anymore. There problem solved for everyone. Sprint doesn't need to pay any roaming fees and the customer can walk away if the service does not work.

Plus with real life you never know where your moving. The carriers could also over load the network. So many variables could be considered on what path to take.

Is data roaming even feasible to use on a regular basis? I thought I read before that Verizon roaming was capped at a ridiculously slow speed. That's what happened in my experience.

Not mine. When I roam I get good 3g speeds to do whatever on.

The roaming data is capped at 1x by default for regular residential accounts. Business and corporate accounts have access to 3g. It's determined by your prl. If you know how to change your prl you can get on Verizon 3g. :)

Me too, I checked using roam control app, I roam on Verizon 3g with 1-2.5 Mbps down.

You might have to turn off 4g radio. I noticed that even though I've been roaming, it shows most of it under Sprint 4g data.

I've used over 3 gigs of data on roaming (so I thought) and it shows under regular data.

But if you've your close to completing the contract, let's say two months left, why is there an etf at all?

By that time you finish the contract you've had already payed back the full retail cost of the device (which is usually 150-200$ LESS than what any carrier advertises it at) plus interest. On some carriers, not naming any here, by the end if your contact you end up paying triple the cost of your phone.

That's why I say, do away with subsidies and contracts. If you can't afford to buy a smartphone without one, then you probably can't afford to pay the bill either.

There's always gsm mvnos plus a nexus phone. They work really well together. Total cost 400$ for the phone plus the 30$-60$ for the phone service. Or even better you could just buy the phone and use a VoIP calling and online messaging app, and your service is completely free.

Off-network Roaming: The primary use of your Device must be for domestic purposes within the Sprint-owned network. Domestic means use in the 50 United States and U.S. Territories (except Guam). Sprint reserves the right, without notice, to deny, terminate, modify, disconnect or suspend service if off-network usage in a month exceeds: (1) voice: 800 min. or a majority of minutes; or (2) data: 100 or 300 megabytes or (based on plan terms) a majority of kilobytes. The display on your device may not always be on and will not indicate whether you will incur roaming charges. Sprint As You Go?- Sprint may terminate service if off-network roaming usage in a month exceeds: (1) 400 min. or a majority of min.; or (2) 100 MB or a majority of KB. You can monitor usage online through My Account. Roaming is not available with single-band phones, or to customers who reside or whose primary use is outside an area covered by the Nationwide Sprint Network. Sprint may limit or terminate service if you move outside of the Sprint owned-network.

I have found that if you turn off LTE radio your roaming on 3g can skyrocket.

Lol. So now that Sprint has rolled out LTE to so many places, people are forced to stop using LTE just so they roam more and can get a no ETF exit from their contract because Sprint is taking to long to rollout LTE?!?

Wow, heard everything now. :p

It's not that they are taking to long to rollout LTE, its the network that sucks.

I can sit inside my home and roam. While a tower is about a mile away.
That is with the LTE radio on all the time.

He never mentioned he had LTE... He said he found if you turn it off he noticed you roam more.

Sprint gave me an apologetic good bye call yesterday, so I ported all 3 of my lines to tmobile, and this is the speed I'm getting

That's some awesome speed. Sprint has never been that fast while on their LTE network.
