Will Gear S Require Separate Calling Plan?

No but they did have the watch with the round face. They just couldn't do anything with them yet. They did have the Note 4 on display. I gotta say it looks nice. I like the silver lining & it is thinner. I think the design will look better in black than white. The only had the white one one display. They also had the Galaxy Alpha on display. An all metal (unsure what material but you will get what I mean) design.
They also had a new bluetooth headset by Samsung called the Galaxy Circle. They look cool. I didn't have time to see how they sound so but the ear bud style had an oval type shape that made them fit better in my ear. (Yeah I tried them on.) They had no idea of its price either.

Gotcha. You must be talking about the Moto 360. Yeah...I called my local Best Buy and they are thinking at least another week or so before they get a display model.

Gsxr151. I know you and Iare dying to know when and at what price, so I just got off the phone with Samsung. No info is available yet, although the rep did speculate in about 2 weeks at the earliest, so...

Thanks for the heads up!

Ugh! Waiting on a price for this. Smadtwatch Forums is rumoring $400, which will kill this watch for me

$400 is a bit much. Even for the phone features. I'm saying it only does 3G. Wouldn't be worth kicking out the money when the Note 4 will be out also.

I would just edit my previous bit I'm getting some invalid link error when. I try. But as I was saying.... The watch would suffer from the gaming console effect. Too high a starting price = lower overall sales to eventually drop the price anyways thus = better sales but late in the game leaving the bad report on the product. You know devices are judged by total sales.

The Gear 2 is $300 and there is no doubt its going to cost more. My revised bet is $449. No way it's less than $400 when it is selling around the world at around $450 usd. Yes this is rediculous as is $300 for the Gear 2.

And the Samsung smart watch market only hits what?...... 2 million the most. Pretty small numbers. I didn't even consider buying a watch until the prices dropped. Numbers like that means people are only buying them to look cool. ....lol. let's also consider the S being only a 3G device for the most part. Idk I guess AT&T may come out with a 4G version. Paying that much for a watch with no valuable metal in it (ie gold) but for its features that are still better fit for a phone isn't gonna win most customers. Then the added monthly cost?...

OKAY well let's see the gear S goes for about $468 in India while the Gear Circle goes for $138.

Yup. Most of the prices out there are in that $400 range. Here's the thing...Tmobile, for a fact, said they will have it on a purchase "plan". I think that tells us it's in the $400's. Less than $400, and they'd sell it outright. Wait and see!!!

I'll wait til the price drops then see myself buying it at that lower price. Sucks a lil. The prices for stuff is higher and stays that way cause people buy it anyways. The customer has the power but we relinquish it to the companies. A fact all too well seen in the cellular monthly service racket.

Dude I'm on Sprint and I have the same crappy insurance and now costs $11/month. It's better now to buy your phones from Best Buy and get their insurance for your phone. I can on and on with stuff like this that I've seen.

Tmobile offers payment plans on anything over 150, Gear S was released in UAE for what is equal to $350 US.. Here's to hoping.

Actually it was brought to my attention that you really cannot go buy the going prices in different countries. And that usually it is cheaper price wise here. So the $468 USD in India really doesn't translate into it being that price here. Another Samsung rep from another Best Buy doesn't think it'll be that much. I did see the Moto 360 at this other store I worked at yesterday (the stores are doing holiday hardware health checks) and it is kinda cool.

We have confirmation of the original question posted on this topic...rather than start a new topic I thought I'd post here.

Confirmed $10 bucks a month on Sprint for service.

Thanks. It appears the $10 on Sprint is not unlimited, which kind of sucks, but I guess the rest you can tether to your phone? I hope TMOBILE is unlimited.

To further this thought. In South Africa the watch is said to go for R6599 ($596.43) which is a big difference then India. So we'll just have to wait and see. I don't think either price would fly in The USA. They gonna have to do penny contract deals to get this thing off the shelves.

Everything is still speculation. I have insiders in this market and even they cannot give a firm answer yet. Price ranges from $250.00 to $350.00, but rumor is, Samsung will not price it above the other watches as its wanting the Gear S to be very competitive.

As for the service plan on the watch, this is something that is literally all over the board. I've called every national carrier and pushed my way through to upper technical managers and short of guesses, none of them have given a straight answer. I believe that cellphone companies are struggling with just how to compete and gain the highest impact from its introduction, so they're all kind of sitting around waiting for the other company to jump in with pricing, so they can come in later and top it..

I think some national carriers are going to offer it as an "add on" the the plan while others are going to consider it a whole new device, complete with its own plan. Although the phone CLEARLY has itself set up to sync with your existing phone, which by the way, is for more than just bluetooth connections. Many of you have said it will sync for bluetooth purposes only, but the actual SIM card will also sync with your existing phone.

This is why I think its important for us to not cancel our plans with our current providers just yet. I for one am with T-Mobile, who absolutely has no clue what they're going to price it at. I've had several managers give me multiple versions meaning they're all just guessing and don't have any definitive data or plan structure yet.

One thing is for sure, no previous device in the cellphone market has ever synched its bluetooth and SIM card with another device before. So this Gear S brings about quite a challenge for cellphone service providers.

I'm as anxious as the rest of you, and will be buying these for not only myself, but my employees as well. So you can bet, price up front will mean nothing in comparison to monthly service fees. But I'm optimistic that service providers will have no choice but to jump in line with the rest of the companies once the plans start coming out. Don't give up you plan on a intro price either. Wait a month or so, and let the dust settle. I have a feeling Samsung's new smartwatch will revolutionize MANY devices' connections to include tablets, and other connectable devices.

One thing is for sure, this is the closest to the vest I've ever seen any company keep its secrets and get their carriers to do the same. Its as if they expected this to be a trend setting device long before this month's controversial false leaks...

You know pricing and release date was announced like 3 days ago right?
