So I have to use Odin to update my note 9 because it will not update itself. My model number is the SM-N960U and I am currently using ATT, however I bought the phone unlocked. I am going to flash the firmware from this link [redacted]. Is this the proper download for me? Sorry for my lack of knowledge I'm new to flashing firmware.

Welcome.

Why can you not flash the official firmware? I'm not familiar with Samsungs, but surely there must be an official source of firmware? The site that you linked was not such a source so far as I could see, and I've removed it in accordance with our rules; PM me if I'm wrong. In any event, members prefer not to click on some kinds of link.
I'll move this to the Note 9 forum for comments from other users.

Hi, the SM-N960U is carrier firmware , and the SM-N960U1 is the unlocked firmware .
Which one you have ? I know you said N960U but want to make sure

Don't know if you did this because I didn't see a reply but as @mustang7757 stated, you want to verify you're putting on the right firmware to the right model phone.

Most likely factory reset should got you going because you successful flashed the device looks like

What phone are you on is it unlocked or a carrier phone, Also your phone is not bricked, theses phones basically can't get bricked especially if you use Odin, and if it's looping by doing a factory reset from recovery will stop the loop .
I actually installed this firmware (https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/g...e/SM-N960U/USC/download/N960USQS2CSGB/287623/).

The data went onto the phone but now it is booting up endlessly on the blue screen that says Installing System Update
