Will Incredible have 720p

Well there is always that Roy lol. Seems like no matter what question people pose the end answer is always, "when we get root". Kind of makes you wonder why they don't just enable these things, people want it!
Because the Evo was given out for free at Google I/O, and when you have some of the top devs at this conference, naturally they're going to hack it.
Mine is not rooted. It supports 1080p and i. Mine also came with the "magic wand" app. Just wave it around and you get what you want. It stopped working on day two when I realized what it could do. Go figure.
I wonder why anyone cares. Based on the Engadget review of the Evo, 720p is basically just in resolution only - the bitstream is relatively low, so basically pointless - if the image quality is not high, who cares what the resolution is?

You must have the Peter Pan Super Limited Special Addition that came randomly to some customers. I hear they are pretty limited.....with that wand app make sure you turn off powers always on in the options or it will absolutely kill your battery, and may also make friends iPhones turn from turds into toads.
Not by default but the camera sensor and chipset for it in the phone are identical. It's all software. With root we will be able to have 720p so there theory goes.
I understand the software limitations theory. But don't you think that if the camera was capable of 720p, HTC would have included it?

No I think it's more along the lines of the 720p camera on the EVO isn't true 720p. For example it's only 720p in resolution not bit rate, so it still looks like crap, well not crap but not as good as it should. Not to mention you need to have more options than just have two camera's and a bigger screen to separate it from the competition and HTC knew that. Just one of those chess like business moves if you ask me.

your conspiracy theory doesn't wash because if you try to upload any video of a decent resolution the phone refuses until it gets a wifi signal. in that case, it would have nothing whatsoever to do with verizon bandwidth...
