Will Incredible have 720p

Not by default but the camera sensor and chipset for it in the phone are identical. It's all software. With root we will be able to have 720p so there theory goes.

I actually believe the same thing. I looks like the EVO and INC have the exact same camera and chipset. From my assumption I believe the INC would be able to get 720p recording in the future with an update. I don't think it is going to be true 720p recording because it is only a 8mp camera

Tests done on the Evo show that even though the resolution is at 720p, the bitrate is so low it doesn't look nearly as good as what you would expect of 720p on the TV.

I mean I know everyone wants the best of the best, and who doesn't?! But sometimes I think people expect too much out of a smartphone....I mean really it's not an HD Cam. The results from the EVO or the Incredible set to record a 720p video will be less than spectacular on your HD tv or computer monitor, but would make a nice youtube video.

Give the manufacturers a few more years. :D If the people (me included) want to stop hauling separate cameras and video recorders around, these phones will one day replace those devices.

I've seen the phones go from less than 1 megapixel to 8 megapixels in just a few years. Progress happens! :)

The thing you fail to remember is that the camera we have now, 4 years ago would have been better than the digital stand alone camera then. So while you assertion is correct about advancing technology in a few years the cameras will be totally good enough to replace what you have now.....however when that time comes the standard digital camera will be that much better too so then it won't look so great in comparison. That's what we are running into now.

I still remember buying one of the first mega pixel digital consumer camera's and thinking I was hot crap, but now my cell phone takes better pictures at 8MP, however my DSLR still trumps it at 15.1 MP. Just food for thought.
