AC Question

Just got an LG G6 & leave for Italy next week; will I need a converter as well as an adapter? I'm having problems finding G6 voltage info. ..

Welcome to Android Central! All devices these days come with a charger that is compatible with both 110V and 220V, so you don't need a voltage converter. If in doubt, look at the fine print on the charger, and make sure it says "110-220V."

Depending on where you live now, you might need an adapter to allow the charging plug to fit Italy's sockets, which look like this: https://www.power-plugs-sockets.com/italy/

You're gonna need adapter to fit our european sockets... But on voltage idk, my charger is compatible 110-220V

I would think USB ports in Italy would be dime a dozen (if you're staying in a hotel there are probably USB ports in the rooms). Pack your cable, then pick up a charger locally once you get there if you need one, and then give it away when you leave!

Remember, though, that the G6 uses USB-C. I doubt that any hotel has started installing USB-C ports -- they're all still USB-A. If you use a USB-A to USB-C converter, I would guess that the charging rate would be relatively slow, compared to using a charging plug in an outlet.

Not all hotels have USB ports

Yeah, you can get our european charger in the hotel, but i never saw usb ports in the rooms... But you can get a converter for the future if you travel a lot outisde the usa....

What? Yes, the G6 uses USB-C. The cable that came with my phone has a USB-A end that plugs into the charger. I'd consider that pretty universal.

I think what is being said is that USB ports in a Hotel most likely won't support USB C fast charging. Your usb cable will plug in but will only slow charge.

I mentioned this because there are also USB-C cables that are only USB-C to USB-C (like with my Nexus 6P). The user would have to make sure that they have a USB-C to USB-A cable, like yours.

I guess my overall point is that USB charging ports are standardized and common and chargers are inexpensive. Wait till you get there and buy what you need, if anything.

All you really need is that inexpensive adaptor to change the plug

Very good point -- one that travel expert Rick Steves would also agree with!:)
