Will my S8 tell me a story?

Before my iPhone years, I had a couple of phones that I would copy/paste stories into a word processing program, save it to the phone, and then open it in the phone and press a button and it would read the story out loud to me. Wasn't perfect for once it got to a new paragraph it would stop so I had to put more effort in removing spaces.

The thing is I am having trouble finding if this is still possible.

I would very much like to know this answer too. Like an audio article. Like an audio book let your phone read you an article is what you are saying? I've tried to get Bixby to do this but failed. I hope this is a function that can be done. I want to click on an article and have my phone read it to me. I hope this is possible with this phone. Good question.

Pretty much, but in my case lets say you find a story you like and copy/paste it into something like MS Word and save it on your phone. Then you open that file and click a button it reads it to you. I would love for it to do the same on websites but that wasn't how it worked back then.

You will not find anything existing to do that. Maybe with an audio book, but not from a Word file.

To be honest.. I don't think so. Audio books are the only thing that comes to mind.

Not just a word file. Like just a free standing picked out article. Can Bixby do this. When I first used Bixby she began to read me a paragraph of what my S8 was worth then I received a call and it made her quit. I've been unable to replicate that ever since. I want my phone to audio file an article to me. That would be awesome.

Yesterday I finally decided to move forward and ordered Prime. I immediately started messing with the books and of course my favorite author isn't Prime. So bought two of his books digitally for $7 and change and the extra $1.99 to have it read to me for lets be honest, I am not a book person but love audio books and LOVE his Rain series.

So in short, when my XM expires out I am going that route.

As far as Pod casts, I heard my share and to be honest, most don't interest me. I been listening to many of Joe Rogan's on YouTube but a lot of things about him is starting to get under my skin. Hell even Howard Stern has stopped being good. Then there was Opie and Anthony with Jim Norton. I know Anthony has his own podcast but seeing what he was doing on FB I said no thanks. Jim Norton is hilarious but can only take him in small doses and then there is Opie: no talent! In short, the only thing I can see as entertaining and keeping my interest would be a show with ONLY Anthony and Jim Norton.

I would love to stream music and what not but not on an unlimited plan so again once XM expires and 10am comes (that is when all the talk shows stop) I am going to switch to audio books.

Settings/Accessibility/Select to Speak is about as close as it gets without some 3rd party intervention.

The problem with asking any text to voice program to read a web page article is understanding what is the article.. and what is not. Your results will be 10 times better if you just stick with text documents and copy/paste out of the web page you want.

As for text to speech from a text file, I have nothing to suggest but I am sure there are lots of choices.

I will keep looking into this but for now I am utilizing my other interest since I am not a reader (I can read just rather being playing my bass than reading a book) is audio book. I am a fan of Barry Eisler so with my purchase of Amazon Prime I obtained two of his books that I yet to read, and added the extra function and for the past few days been having the Kindle read me the story/book as I am driving.

This is what I really want with a text document I create from a copy/paste.

Actually I did.

Your phone can tell a story. Not sure how I ended up with this app but assumed I downloaded it since it comes with adds. Check out @Voice. I open a webpage with a story on it, a PDF, etc. and choose "Share" and then pick that app and it opens and reads it to/for you.
